We are out of the woods for now.
Transplant went great, wife is moving around again, and the boy is doing great.
Kidney is not rejecting as of right now, so as long as we don't have any rejection issues or infections, he should live a relative normal life with anti-rejection meds 2 times a day...
No more sports b/c the kidney is not in a safe place, but that is on the bottom of the list of importance.
Right now he has to take 17 pills 2 times a day and can't be around more than a few people at time b/c he is on medication that kills his immune system.
He has missed the past 2 months of school, so that is the next hurdle..
Dave is dealing with a bigger monster than I had.
My nephew is dealing with a giant monster known as ALL..
You see these poor kids fighting for their lives and it just makes you wonder why and rips your heart out.
The only way I can deal with these things is to do whatever I can to help the parents.
Met a woman from Alabama at Children's, her daughter was born with cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant to have a fighting chance, that poor woman was living in the Ronald McDonald house away from her support network, but there are wonderful people in Cincinnati that try to help her out and give her strength.
seriously, contact me..I am up there all of the time.
I don't know what I can do for you, but if I can pull it off, I am here.
