Only in Cincinnati can a team throw away a pick and its ok because its an extra pick
Ditto. The point to having two first round picks is to get two first round talents, not a first round and a low second round talent. Anyone who doesn't understand that does not really understand the point to the draft.
IF the Bengals would have not traded down and kept the 21st pick and took DeCastro, right now they would be one of the teams getting high grades for their draft thus far.
To put it into simpler terms, in an era where just about everyone understands fantasy, this would be the equivalent to trading for a second first round pick. Taking Tom Brady with your first first round pick (good choice), then with a second first round choice taking Benjarvis Green-Ellis although no one has him projected that high. Even if you have a good feeling that he's going to run wild in 2012 in Cincy, the FACT is that someone of his "value" you could certainly wait on. That is definitely the case with Zeitler...they could have waited and used that pick better, they could have traded down again, etc. |
