Will Rivers be a star?

I know it's impossible to know what Keith Rivers will be when he gets on the field in the NFL. In college, he looked great...fast, tough, and he was a leader. Early indications (which don't mean sh!t) have him as that guy for the Bengals. He seems to be headed in the right direction.

My question is...which former LB of The Bengals do you see his career mirroring the most and in what way?

- Takeo Spikes
- Steve Tovar
- Reggie Williams
- Brian Simmons
- Carl Zander
- James Francis
- Better than ANY Bengal LB ever
- Other

Hopefully a smarter and faster Brian Simmons.

Or a Takeo Spikes with a better attitude.

...I thought the guy looked really fast on film. Unfortunately, Hobson reports that "While he is not as fast as Brian Simmons....."

When I read that I said, Uh-Oh.

...Here it is:

Otherwise known as "The Real McCoy." Probably doesn't have the blinding speed of Brian Simmons or the punishing physical signature of Takeo Spikes.

But he can do enough of everything so well that he left little doubt he's the next Bengals star .....

Not as fast as the "blinding speed" of Brian Simmons or as physical as Takeo Spikes, Hmm..... lets see now, Caleb Miller?????

Slobson is a tool.

If Simmons was so fast, why did he get beat by every back in the league to the outside? LOL

I'm thinking this is going to be another case of shoulda, coulda, woulda. Should have been good if he would have had the beef in front of him. Coulda been good if he was halfway good at covering the flats or TEs. Woulda been good if he played for any other team than the Bungles. Not enough beef up front. Expected to do too much. Not prepared to do enough. Supposed savior of the defense.

Not going to happen. IMO.

The sad thing is, I'm so apathetic about the Bengals I thought Gretto was referring to Philip Rivers.
I fear that Keith Rivers is going to be an average LB in the mold of Brian Simmons. Dude even looks like Simmons. I definitely don't see him as a stud. Thurman could have been a stud if he wasn't a total douche. I don't see that for Rivers. I hope I'm wrong. Either way, average is better than what we got right now.

Like Bill Bergey or Reggie Williams. Not having 66 or 57 in the defense would be great...

Peace

Facking Rivers a star? LMMFAO. This is a guy that they felt they HAD to pick because all the other players they wanted were already taken. Mike Brown slept on the DT uptrading thing. If Mike Brown was half serious about improving his ballclub, he would have traded up to at least pick 5--and got Glen Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis with that pick. That way you are telling your franchise you are serious about improving your team. You are bringing in a supposed stud on the Line--you are rebuilding the defense--and you are telling your fans that you are trying real hard to step up the DL. That Rivers pick was a half-azzed pick (what do you expect from a Brown & Blackburn-Braintrust Decision?). How do you expect an OLB to fix the run defense AND pass defense?!?!?!?!??!? I just don't get it. Trading up to get one of those DT's would have been a smarter move, IMO. I thought Mike Brown would have learned his lesson with the Vince Wilfork/Chrissy Perry Decision?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

We picked him so either he will be a stud who gets suspended from the league in his second year for stealing girl scout cookies or the second coming of Caleb Miller.

I agree a "no sauce Odell" would be perfect.

Simmons... but slightly better and a longer career as a starter.
