OK, I am not saying anyone here thinks this is OK, but the refusal of anyone to think this world does not have a Muslim problem has their head in the sand. These are not isolated incidents, this is mainstream and growing.

Don't accuse me of calling for a holy war which I am sure Dacow already has typed up, but a matter of protecting our way of life.

That's not a political post, that's a hate post. You clearly despise muslims and offer no solutions or means of building bridges between cultures. You choose to tar all muslims with the same brush in true Republican-stereotyping fashion. My guess is that you don't know any muslims yourself and get all your information from TV and radio. What do you propose we do then, homey? Kill all muslims? Turn the middle east into a glass parking lot? Maybe that would make you a happy person. What is your solution to the problem?

Headlines for today:

Is this how Americans decide their presidents? Not knowing or caring about the issues or what candidate offers the best solutions. Seems we are more concerned with who is more popular or what campaign can get the best cheap shot on the other. Apparently the two campaigns seem to think the American public is too ignorant to grasp or appreciate the issues that face us. So instead of giving the drooling idiots substances on the issues lets attack the other side and give the drooling idiots what they want.

Sad, it really is what our pop culture basis it’s decisions on.

Well -- isn't this a form of socialism? Like I have always argued, we already made the decision years ago that we would in fact have socialism. The only argument has been how much, in what sectors, and who will benefit.

Here's another example of the Conservative Republicans 1) Bailing out private companies with public funds, 2) Making big government bigger, and most significantly, spending billions more to do it without raising taxes.

Democrats - Tax and Spend

Republicans - Spend, but don't tax. Instead, borrow from the Chinese, and mortgage the county.

SWAMP

PS. The CEO's of these two outfits were making millions of dollars in salary as they drove them both into the ground. Sound familiar?

Let’s see Banks make risky loans and ask for bail outs by the government when the risks fail.

“The decision to take control of the companies, which have $1.6 trillion in debt outstanding, and place them into a conservatorship under their regulator could amount to the largest financial bailout in U.S. history. The Treasury Department, which is taking an equity stake in the two firms, said there was no reason to expect that taxpayers would have to shoulder losses. “

Really, than who is going to pay for the bail out if not the tax payers.

Hand out Risky loans and when you fall on your face beg for government bailout. Hey, I lost money at the crap table and need some government assistance to get my money back.

Does Murf actually make this stuff up on his own or is someone at Fox Non-News dishing it out?

No way a cop threatens to kill someone and keeps his job. He's fired at the department level, and it wouldn't even have to make it up to the Gov's office. Not only was this trooper not fired, he wasn't even charged.

He got disciplined for tasing his son, and he should have. But that was also appropriately handled at the department level, and was none of the Gov's business.

And for the record, he didn't use his duty Taser. This cop was and is a certified Taser instructor, and his step son wanted the experience of receiving a training jolt.

Had the son been 18 and signed waivers, it would have been a nonissue. Anyone that enrolls in one of the area Citizens' Police Academies and males a similar request gets Tased. It's happening all across our country, including in Ohio.

Had that officer pulled some sort of crime at the expense of the Gov. or her family, there would have been some understandable basis for her discussing his employment status. Since there wasn't any such issue, she was out of line and abusing her office.

Which, given the Bush record for abuse of power, lies, treason and just general incompetence, probably just earned her more brownie points.

The creationism museum may be ridiculous, however, evolution is not and never has been scientific fact. In fact, it may be further from that than it has ever been. Not to start a science v. religion debate, however I did my undergraduate work in physics, and it makes my skin crawl for people to throw around the term "scientific fact" without any idea of what it actually means for something to be a "scientific fact". And evolution is far from meeting that standard.

I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but I heard a new breaking story from Washington. Apparently there has been some quack going to the White House and asking to speak to President Obama. Security just smiled and told the man that Senator Obama was not President and then sent the man on his away. However, he kept coming back and each time they told him the same thing which was that Senator Obama was not President. Finally, today a security guard took him aside and insisted they tell them why he kept coming to the White House insisting to see Obama when he is not even President. Apparently the man knew that Obama was not President. He just liked hearing them say it.

Nancy Pelosi purchased between 50,000 to 100,000 dollars in stock of T Boones Wind Company. This was an IPO offering to her from T Boone Pickens and she has already tripled her money from the initial offering. No wonder she is so against Drilling and has government subsidies for putting up Windmills.

Kind of foolish on her part, as the investment is less than 1% of her net worth and was likely made as a token gesture of support for green energy alternatives. When compared with the many Republicans who are heavily invested into oil futures it most certainly presents a relatively minor conflict of interest scenario, but more importantly provides good fodder for right-wing bloggers.

"So the attack Palin on time of service....getting old.

LOL!

She was in the PTA 10 years ago and barely made it out of some Idaho "university" (no offense Belko) for the demented with a Communications degree?

Barack graduated Cum Laude from Columbia University and then he went to Harvard Law where he was President of Law Review (whcih you cant be on unless you are top 5% of your class), the most prestigious position for a student in law school. Obama was a founding member of the board of directors of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife, Michelle, became the founding executive director of Public Allies Chicago in early 1993. He served on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund Obama's DCP, from 1993–2002, and served on the board of directors of The Joyce Foundation from 1994–2002. Obama served on the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995–2002, as founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995–1999. He also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Lugenia Burns Hope CenterObama then worked as a Civil Rights attorney and community organizer from 1992-1997. He then served as a Illinois State Senator from 1997 to 2004. He was then elected US Senator in 2004 until 2008.

Palin was mayor of a town of $5,000 when she was in office and was also on City Council. The Wasilla City Council is made up of six members who are elected at-large by residents to designated seats. They serve for three years, unless appointed to fill a vacant seat. The Office of Mayor is elected separately. All positions are part time, including the Mayor's position. When she served as Mayor the town's operating budget was roughly $13 million or less than the cost of what New York City spends on street sweepers per year. She lost the election for Lieutenant Governor in 2002. Governor Murkowski appointed Palin to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. She chaired the Commission beginning in 2003, and served as Ethics Supervisor. From 2003 to June 2005, Palin served as one of three directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group that was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in Alaska. In 2006, she was elected Governor of Alaska after being out of politics for 4 years.

Little different, eh Murf?????

Swamp

I never said I was against wind power. I am for all American forms of energy and less foreign dependence. I thought I have clearly stated this several times.

However the Pickens plan is only to help him get richer and he has Pelosi in his pocket. Pickens owns a wind company and a natural gas company at this time and has an interest in less oil drilling. This interest that him and Pelosi share is money.

The IPO stock has went from aroun $3 to $13 that has made Pelosi millions.

Re: Possible criminal investigation of
U. S. senator Barack Obama

Dear Mr. Nucci:

I am writing to you to suggest a possible criminal investigation of U. S. senator Barack Obama.

I have been engaged in fighting official corruption in Illinois since I was a law student at the University of Illinois, over forty (40) years.

I am in the process of organizing I-CAN (Illinois-Corruption Action Now) to continue the fight against corruption. I believe the modern remnants of the Chicago Crime Syndicate continue to seek to penetrate legitimate state offices and businesses. I have previously filed a complaint directing your attention to very suspicious links involving tens of millions of dollars in questionable “loans” between State Treasurer-elect Alexi Giannoulias’ Broadway Bank and an organized crime figure.

Mr. Tony Rezko is under indictment in Illinois for seeking to extort money from potential state vendors. Rezko is a close associate of Governor Rod Blagojevich and Rezko has done “real estate business” with Blagojevich’s wife, Patti Blagojevich.

Corruption, of course, involves two different approaches: (i) extorting/taking money from people, and (ii) paying money or giving tangible benefits to public officials to obtain access or influence. Sometimes people buy influence for an immediate project or need, and sometimes they just buy influence to bank it or to project the aura of access and influence in their business dealings. My complaint against Senator Obama falls into the second category.

Before being elected to the U. S. Senate, Mr. Obama served in the Illinois state senate. The Illinois senate has been a cesspool of corruption for decades. Back in the 1960’s they censured a member, Senator Paul Simon (then serving as a state senator), for being too honest and exposing senate corruption. Matters have not changed much.

Mr. Obama was well aware of the culture and climate of corruption when he began his business dealings with Mr. Rezko.

Reduced to its essentials, Obama and Rezko engaged in a structured real estate transaction where they coordinated the purchases of adjacent parcels of real estate. Rezko claims he paid “full market price” and Obama apparently received a “discount” of several hundred thousand dollars for his parcel. Rezko then improved his parcel to benefit Obama.

Obama recently said these related and structured transactions were a “mistake.” With all due respect I believe they were a federal crime and constituted a conspiracy.

I believe a grand jury could find a pattern of criminal activity. Instead of handing cash to Obama, Rezko handed Obama a preferential price for property. This is the same form of “honest graft” and preferential treatment that sent former Illinois Governor Otto Kerner to jail over 30 years ago, see United States v. Isaacs, 493 F.2d 1124 (7th Cir. 1974).

Taken in isolation, the Obama episode might be explainable, but I doubt it. Why would Rezko be buying land next to Obama and coordinating his actions with Obama if not to confer a benefit on Obama? Why?

More importantly, there appears to be a pattern of similar influence peddling by Mr. Rezko. The Chicago Sun-Times recently reported that Mr. Rezko, around the same general period he was wheeling with Obama, also provided a preferential price for a property purchase by U. S. Representative Luis Gutierrez. There is a pattern here. Instead of transferring cash to buy influence, Rezko was engaging in structured property transactions and preferential treatment of public officials to confer significant financial benefits on them, far above the legal limits of any legitimate political contribution permitted by federal law.

Most respectfully, I would urge you to consider allowing a grand jury to examine this series of suspicious transactions. I am sending a letter to the foreperson of the grand jury, through the U. S. Attorney’s office, seeking to testify as an expert witness in this matter if the grand jury wishes to pursue this investigation.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Respectfully submitted,

ANDY MARTIN

"The IPO stock has went from aroun $3 to $13 that has made Pelosi millions."

Get your facts straight and don't deliberately distort the truth. The laughable part of this story is that no one knows any details about how much Pelosi paid per share for her stock, with the most generous estimates by salivating right-wingers giving her a 300% profit, where it is most likely that the stock which initially offered at $14 is trading at about $18 right now. That's less than a 30% profit. So that would be a $15-30,000 profit, not millions. And is insubstantial for a woman of Pelosi's worth.

Don't you work on an oil rig, Fulcher? That hardly makes you an impartial third party lol.

P.S. Jefferson is not a conservative in the sense that you are using the term.

Ok, your right I did here the range on a right wing talk show which is fabricated and I continued the fabrication. Below is the facts:

May 25, 2007 10:35 AM EDT The IPO for Clean Energy Fuels (Nasdaq: CLNE) is open for trading. The stock is trading at $12.07 after pricing 10 million shares at $11. The offering size was cut from 20 million shares and the pricing was below the expected $13-$17 range.Clean Energy is the leading provider of natural gas as an alternative fuel for vehicle fleets in the United States and Canada. In the late 1980s, one of the company's founders, Boone Pickens, became convinced that natural gas had a number of advantages over gasoline and diesel as a vehicle fuel. Over the next decade and a half, Mr. Pickens and Andrew Littlefair, the CEO, were pioneers in developing this market. They founded the company on the premise that natural gas is cheaper and cleaner than gasoline and diesel, and that almost all natural gas consumed in the United States is produced domestically.Related CategoriesHot ListIPOsStocks Mentioned

Also, I do work in the oil field but do not work on a drilling rig. I am a Field Engineer and basically I use electronic instrumentation and send it down hole to gather and then interoperate the data to help the customer get the maximum production out of their well. These wells can be gas or oil wells.

Am I a third party of course not I am a conservative and Jefferson’s beliefs or our founders for that matter is the roots for conservatism. Jefferson was the founder of the Democratic/Republican party their main goal was to limit Federal governments power. At the time their opposition was the Federalist who were for larger government.

I was in a luncheon with these guys yesterday: L. Michael Bogert, Counselor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior, C. Stephen Allred, Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management and James L. Caswell, Director, Bureau of Land Management.

It was an interesting talk. They talked about how they tried to do the oil shale gig back in the 70's but it was not cost effective. They also said that they had maps of wind and solar fields in the u.s. but the issue was that the best land is all locked up in "wilderness" and "national parks"... lol...

They also said now that they can drill 10 miles sideways and they "want to do it right" that they can do it right....

Belko:

Horizontal drilling has been going on for awhile. It is more popular in Canada then the U.S. except in the Barnett shell around Dallas Fort Worth area. 10 miles I haven’t heard of one being drilled this far horizontally and would be a first. Generally the average is 3 miles vertical and up to a couple of miles horizontally.

True, oil shell drilling was tried in the 70’s but the technology was not there to make it cost effective. Today they can do it as long as oil is above $30 a barrel. Look up schlumberger Raytheon to learn more about newer technologies to extract oil shell.

"...refers to a group comprising the world's six largest energy companies (ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Chevron/Texaco, Conoco Phillips, and one other I can't recall at the moment)."

I believe Occidental would be that 6th company you were looking for. This is the company Gore is invested in.

Murf, if you don't know who "big oil" is you must just not be paying attention. Never heard of ExxonMobil, the most profitable company in world history?

Again, you miss the point.

I keep hearing the liberals scream about time in office.....
Name the president that had five kids....the very same number she is getting drilled about...a few short months in service. became vice president and then president....

Look at the heads on the mountain for your answer....

BA...
I know what companies run the oil show....but can you name 1 small one?
My point is, the liberals attach the word "BIG" to it to make the idots believe that there is another group of oil companies that are not allowed to compete.

Carparker,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Earth_creationism

Being a Christian doesn't automatically mean you believe dinosaurs roamed the earth 4,000 years ago. What makes you think that Obama doesn't share the same believes as McCain and Palin? Isn't he a "Christian" too?
