Be honest now. How many of you now root against your former team?
As for myself, I am unrepentant for rooting against the Bengals. It feels right, although it feels a little odd. However, I have done so with the realization that they are no longer the Bengals, rather, they have become the personification of Mikey hole.
Having said that, my main concern now is that the Bengals might have a chance to beat the Titans next week. Does anyone think they have a shot?
GO TITANS!!!!

I'll wait until about Week 5, just to confirm the obvious and make sure the season is going to be a train wreck. Then I'll root against them. The worse it gets, the more gratifying it will be, in an I-told-you-so kind of way. It will take something like a 3-13 season for Mike Brown to feel the heat. At least he can suffer a little bit, too.

This past Sunday I misread the halftime score and thought it said the Bungles were up over Baltimore....and I was pissed! Mainly because I had picked Baltimore in the pick'em......but secondary because I seriously despise this team. I root for the cowboys and the browns now. Once ownership changes and this team heads in the right direction then i will return and support the team.
And all those who critisize and call me a bandwagon jumper who failed to support the team in the 90's and 2000's and 2010's......I will have to critisize them for thier support of the current evil regime has kept me at bay for that long.

Once I knew that the team would never actually be "good" (i.e. have a solid defense) I lost hope. The 2005 team had a high-powered offense but an over-rated defense whose turnovers masked their mediocrity. Mike Brown and Matt Millen can do the easy job of drafting skill players but couldn't put together a solid defense to save their lives. I lost faith in Marvin at the end of the '05 season when we tanked the last 3 games and couldn't do jack after Palmer went down in the playoffs. Coach giggles is incompetent and the rest of the staff and players are totally bungalized. Its pointless to root for this team as long as mikehole in charge. It hurts me to say it but I now want the Bengals to lose in the hopes that it will bring shame to Brown the clown.

I want them to win

I always want them to win but I am not some pie in the sky optomist about it. I don't think we have a terrible team by any stretch this year. Our problem is we have a new defense that we have spent every 1st round pick I can remember trying to build and an aging O-Line that has been neglected due to said horrid defense.
Add in our sick brutal schedule and I don't have warm fuzzy about this season.
I want them to win but I won't expect it very often this year if game one was any indicator.
We are not Oakland!!!

I usually point and laugh and the non-tackling, non-blocking, "passing attack" of what we call the Bungles. To say that they don't play sound football is an understatement. So we shouldn't expect too much. It all points to the top when you have incompetence from the players on up.
We're in Bratkowski hell and we're here to stay folks.

So what of the Titan? Does anyone know if they are favored and if so, by how much?
I do realize that people may view me as a turn coat, however, that is not how I look at it. I look at it as Mikey hole being the turn coat. I am now doing the only decent thing which is to now root against him. He has turned on the city long ago so why in the HEEEELLL are we not all turning on him?

Sad fact is

The sad truth is every NFL team is guaranteed to make a profit based on the structure of the league. That is why the most valuable sports franchises in the US are NFL teams.
It is almost impossible for Mike Brown to lose money unless he started hiring more people and spent way more on perks for the player like... lmao... never mind.

Not yet. We'll be able to tell by week 4 whether they are done or not for the season. If they prove they are, I'll root against them. We need a bad season for Mike Brown to consider making changes.

First of all, Wyche, they will dissappoint you.
Second, Katie, its not about Brown making changes, he didn't really make a change when he had 12 straight non-winning seasons. He went to the playoffs 3 years ago, you thing a bad season will bring change? Its more a about seeing him embarrassed. I would love to see 0-16 and maybe with a few injuries and a couple of breaks, we can achieve such a goal.

I'm not tuning into the games except occasionally just to check the scores.
I was quite pleased to see/hear that the Bengals were badly beat down by the Ravens and Titans. It's definitely more satisfying when the games aren't even close!
I have never liked the city of Cincinnati, so realy, it was irrational for me to ever cheer for their team in the first place.

Rooting Against Bengals Now

Five games and zero wins. I know most of you were at this point a long time ago, but NOW I'm completely ready to root against the Bengals. How many more weeks until Mike Brown addresses the media about the 2008 debacle?
From a Paul Daugherty column that appeared in 2000: "Brown embarrassed but steadfast: Owner says Bengals need better players, not GM"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PD: “Does (questioning) affect the way you do things?”
MB: “Yes. Have I done what you wished I'd do, which is jump off the balcony here? I've restrained myself. It's like going to the dentist office.”
PD: “It's like going to the dentist office every week for 10 years. And still eating sweets.”
MB: “Do I see it that way? No.”
PD: “How could you not see it that way?”
MB: “I have said we have failed. If you want me to say it's like going to the dentist's office every day for 10 years, I'll say that, if it makes you happy. We're really just re-plowing the same ground.”

Earlier today, USC3 stated he was getting the Bungs on the west coast, in the nationally televised game. Thank God that here in Seattle I was spared the Bungs and we got the Patriots/49'ers, which then prompted me to do something else with the rest of my day.
It's been several years since I really cared. I only "follow" somewhat now just to see how much worse it's going to get, and what, if anything can be done about it (thanks to this site).
I don't have to root against the Bungs. They do it to and for themselves quite well.
