A Possible Way To Deal With Our Mike Brown Situation

A friend and I were discussing the futile situation that we as Bengal fans are stuck in due to the ability to run a totally disfuctional business in the NFL and continue to make money, a lot of money. If Mike Brown was in the normal world he would have taken daddy's successful business and driven it into the ground 15 years ago. We have to realize that Mike and his family circus are NOT going anywhere. They are not going to sell the team, at least not at a reasonable affordable price(why should they?). We figure the only option we have is to make the NFL force Mikey at the very least, to hire a COMPETENT non-family member GM. The only way to force the NFL to do this is to hit the NFL where it hurts-in their wallet. Not by boycotting the team and the NFL DIRECTLY by not buying tickets but by their advertisers. We should organize a massive bombardment by any means available(e mails, letters, petitions etc) to all advertisers of the Bengals and NFL and tell them in no uncertain terms that we will no longer be supporting/buying their products as long as Brown and his daughter are allowed to masquerade as NFL quality GM's. They can still act as the incompetent owners that they are, they can still sit in their private box at the publicly funded stadium, they can still travel with the team, count the money that will still uncontrollably flow in but that's it. As soon as a "football" person is put in charge and the Bengals even remotely resemble an NFL football team we will then start buying again.

Brother, I feel your pain. I would like to think that this could work, but you would have to get a buy-in from most of the other 31 teams fan base. The rest of the NFL consider MFB and the Bengals as a cross between the three stooges, and the retarded in-bred mongoloid that 100 years ago you would have kept locked in the basement.

Sorry, I just don't see it happening.

Two choices:

1. Just learn to laugh it off.

2. Become a Colts fan.

How would hiring a GM with no authority be any different from hiring a coach with no authority?

"Well, it ain't braggin' if it's true
Yes sir, yes sir
It ain't braggin' if it's true
Muhammad Ali said that
Back when he was a young man
Back when he was Cassius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
And left his brain inside the ring"

I know that this would never happen but it was fun thinking about it.

I don't think the idea should be so easily dismissed, economic boycotts have been successful before.

We should start making a list of Bengals advertisers and start boycotting them. Of course, we should inform the media and the advertisers of our actions and our demand: to have the NFL force mike brown to hire a GM with complete authority over the team personnel, and a GM with no ties whatsoever to the Brown family.

I can think of Goldstar off the top of my head. I know Palmer does a gig with some realty co., but we should specifically target companies that do business with the Bengals organization, not the players. After all, it is not Palmer's fault that he was drafted by a crap organization.

Anyone else think of any Bengals affiliated companies?

We are talking MAJOR NFL sponsers in addition to local, like the beer companies. I think that the atmosphere here now is finally condusive for attempting this. The advertisers and consequently the NFL would be worried that if this action actually got some legs here "all hell could break loose" and grow to other cities thus beginning the fall of the mighty NFL empire. The owners would now have to get together and force their poster boy for "how you can run a totally incompetent franchise and still make money in the NFL", Mike Brown to hire a GM so as to quiet down the "trouble making" fans of Cincinnati. This GM would have to be given the proper authority needed to essentially rebuild the Bengals from the ground up. They would have to do this very quietly so as not to hurt Mikey's delusional ego but more importantly, as mentioned earlier, not to give any other potential NFL "trouble makers" in other cities the same idea that could damage their money printing machine otherwise known as the NFL.

i think product boycotting-- with the appropriate media tip offs, etc. is at least a place to start. It's DOING SOMETHING which is more than the Bengals are doing right now. The internet/email/www is an amazing far reaching tool. If you send an email to 2 people, who send to 2 who send to 2 etc., etc--- alot of people can then start eating skyline and wearing a different deoderant!!! =)=)
