Sunday was a long asz day.
Had tickets, decided to go to the grocery and make some chilli and chill at the house.
Spent 180.00 at the store and got home around 11:00.
Started my chilli, made up some snacks and the Bengal just started.
Cable went out.
Dig out the old rabbit ears from storage and get to watch the first qtr.
Power goes out, then comes back on, then goes out.....this went on for the first half.
Second half, power is completely out and my chilli is half cooked and I am trying to listen to the game from my Jeep.
Call up to the local pub, they have the game on.
Got there, and the dish goes out....
They got to restore the dish around 5 or so.
Watched the end of the Broncos game and watched the Steelers/Browns game.
The point of the story is.....
It brings back the days of the blackouts.
You forget how spoiled we are with the instant scores and updates.
Not knowing the scores or who scored, drives you nuts. lol
I am at my inlaws house b/c I still don't have electric.
They are saying maybe saturday.....
Hard telling when the cable will be back on line.
Gas stations are running out of Gas, most places are closed.
there is no ice anywhere to be found.
Credit card machines are not working.
All of this and it still does not compare to what the poor people in Texas are dealing with.
Not even close....

The power was out. It came on after 4:00 PM yesterday. It was out for about 26 hours. Not too bad. You don't realize how much you rely on and appreciate electricity until it is gone.

Good to see that you were taking care of your family Murf. What is your plan in the event something worse happens? Ride around town looking for an open bar again?
Your family must be proud.

Murf,
Sorry to hear about the old homestead! I imagine you guys probably had to throw away a decent amount of food and what not - that sucks - especially since you had just spent $180 at the store - DOH!
Hope things get back to normal for ya!

LOL!
Family was with me.....
The local Pub is a pretty good size sports bar that turned into one of the only places that had electric and could serve food, so it turned into a mad house.
As of 6:50pm on tuesday we are still without power and they are saying maybe Wed or Thursday or sunday...they have no clue.
I am leaving for Florida at 4am, so I hope everything is back to normal when we get back.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Some dude spent 300.00 on saturday, lost most of that, then his power came back on sunday night, so he spent another 250.00, and then lost power again.
You don't realize how spoiled we truly are....
Like I said, it does not compare to Texas....those poor people have months before they get back to any kind of normalcy.
I'm in the same boat Murf, spent almost $200 friday on groceries, luckily we took them to our daughters house and put the meat in her deep freeze, right now at her house because I don't have electricity, we had a wind storm and 3 days later more than 50% of people are without power, Duke was totally unprepared and I expect a class action lawsuit.
Never realize how nice it is to take a shower in your own home, shave with a light on, drink a hot cup of coffee in the morning, charge your cell phone etc
What really gets under my skin is the people that got their electricity back on quickly
The Reds
The Bengals
The Florence Freedom
The Florence Mall
Sorry but residential areas are more important and can less afford the cost of no electricity
Sleep on the flight.....hoping to sleep on the flight....
when i was going to UCF in Orlando for my undergrad we got hit by 3 major hurricanes in the space of a month and i didnt have power for two and a half months. It was like an army field problem. You kind of expect that stuff in Florida though, it is wierd to hear about it in Ohio.
As for class action lawsuits, read the fine print on "acts of god".
ironic part of this hurricane was that I live in Dallas and all my friends and family in Cincy were texting and emailing me to make sure I was going to be ok.......all we got was a mist of rain and no wind......Cincy got pounded like its football team....or like Murf at mikeys house....or like Falc by himself...or like...you get the picture.
I hope everyone is safe up there in the motherland.
"Next earthquake, I don't want to hear a dam thing out of you Falc. Maybe you will fall into the ocean and my wish will be granted."
I live in Sacramento. WE DON'T GET EARTHQUAKES HERE, you ignorant midwesterner. What else you got for me?
See, if the Bay Area falls into the ocean, then I've got beach front property. Thus killing two birds with one stone.
