Nobody else started the thread for the Cleveland-Cincy gam, so here it is... With Fitzpatrick starting for the Bungles, there is a little intrigue. Will we have a QB controversy after the game? If only we could be so lucky.

Well, what do you know? It looked like Bratkowski was calling plays for the Browns. Bungles stop them inside the ten and Cleveland settles for a field goal. 3-0 Browns.
It's obvious that Crennel doesn't want Anderson to throw any more than he absolutely has to. Will Jamal Lewis get 40 carries today?

The Bengals offense finally shows a glimmer of life very late in the first quarter. Fitz runs for a first down and Ocho Stinko manages to make a catch. Otherwise, it was a gawd-awful showing. We'll see what happens in the second quarter.

And we're tied at 3. If not for the occasional Fitzpatrick run, this offense would be dead in the water. Levi Jones helped blow up the drive with a penalty.
I'll tell you, Fitzpatrick has been on the team long enough that he should be more on the same page with his teammates than what we're seeing. This is just the way it is with the Bungles. They don't cope with problems well, and I think it's because of that 1950's style organization Mike Brown operates. They have fewer resources than the other teams.

Just when things started to look promising, Fitzpatrick throws one of the worst unmolested passes I've ever seen in my life. His receiver was open, but he sort-of floated it up there for an interception. Now the "momentum" (such as it is) has swung back to the Browns.

What a sloppy piece of sh*t of a game. How many picks, overthrows, bad playcalling, and fumbles are you going to have in one game. Like my boy Lee Corso says---"SOMEBODY NEEDS TO PUT A TENT OVER THESE GUYS". Welcome to the Circus, folks.
BTW--24-21 in FG Scoring only? No way. I'm thinking more like 12-9.

Both teams so lethargic and inept, it's ridiculous. Chudzinski does his best Bratkowski impersonation again. Browns punt from the end zone and the Bengals get the ball around their own 45. I'm sure their drive will end in a punt.
Edit: Yep, between penalties and Bratkowski's play calling, they did end up punting. And of course the punt went into the end zone for a touchback.

I said something a couple of weeks ago about Fitzpatrick not being a better QB than Palmer but being a better QB for this team. I would like the last part of that remark stricken from the record :-p.
Hey guys, I was pessemistic about 0-16, but if Palmer needs surgery, the dream could live! How ugly will next week's game be?! If only it was in Cincy, then you could have a real stinker of a revolt.....

Fumble by Perry, turnover, another touchdown for the Browns.
It's the end of the Bruce Coslett era. It's Dick LeBeau's final season. It's the Dave Shula era. It's Sam Wyche's final season. It's Tiger Johnson's final season.
It's Mike Brown's team. Enough said.

What suddenly got into Ryan Fitzpatrick? He suddenly became an accurate passer! Did Bratkowski take the reins off of him? Or was it a simple case of the Browns defense letting up?
No 2-point conversion, though. 17-12 browns.

F@ck the Browns. They can't even win the game right. 12 men in the huddle for a kneedown? LMMFAO. These two teams are a direct reflection of coaching and ownership.
Fitzgerald's been in the league for how long again? Paraphrasing Bob Barker:

LOL! I was furious at the game. Their TOs were gone by the beginning of the fourth quarter! Boy were the fans angry when they used the last one. There was a loud chorus of boos. At the end of the game, a guy made a joke about there being no time outs. We both shook our heads at Marvin's horrible clock management skills.

I go to some of the games. I buy my tickets on ticketsnow or get them free and take my boys ( 7 and 10). When I was a kid, my father took me to plenty of Saints home games and the Saints were dog crap. Those are some of the best memories I have growing up. Booing the Saints and laughing at old "Run around and get sacked Archie" I got to see Dempsey kick the 63 yard field goal against the Lions and I have sat at the bar with Billy Kilmer and my dad watching them drink bourbon after another loss at the Red Maple. It was great. I still remember to this day Kilmer giving me 6 quarters and telling me to go buy him a pack of smokes from the cigarette machine. Today's 8 year olds just don't get opportunities like that anymore.
I don't want to look back 15 years later and tell my grown sons the reason I never took you to a Bengals game was because they sucked real bad. They know that. They still want to go to the game. Hell, if I wait until they are good I will be a great grandfather.
Nope, I go the games, boo, laugh and so do my kids. After the game we talk about how bad our team sucks and how we hoped the Aints would make the playoffs this year. I even take my kids to Reds games and the best part is the tickets are soooo cheap or even free.
Mike Brown sucks but we made the value of the Bengals more than double by building him a new stadium so he is set for life. Our only course of action is humiliation via banners or a good ole Cleveland bottle toss.
The boys live for this schit and I no longer let it bother me.

We're all different, and we all have our own strategies with how we deal with being a Bengals fan. If my boys (4, 8, and 13) bugged me about going to the game, and if we lived in the area, I would take them, too. But I'm happy to say they haven't got caught up in it. They call themselves Bengals fans, but they don't watch more than a few minutes of any particular game with me. Probably in part because they associate it with their Dad being angry and grouchy. I also don't encourage them to follow the team.
They're all on a track to NOT be anything but casual, highly-detached fans. They won't be giving the franchise much support in their lifetimes. I'm happy about that. Mike Brown's progeny won't get hardly any money from mine.
No if I can only get the team out of my system...

The beauty of Direct TV's NFL Ticket is that you can watch every single NFL game. Whenever I flipped to the Ohio Bowl -- which featured the 0-3 Cleveland Browns at the 0-3 Cincinnati Bengals -- that blessing instantly became a curse. I can't even imagine what the experience was like for those poor fans who actually spent their hard-earned money on tickets. Congress, can we at least get a bailout for Bengals and Browns fans?
Jamal Lewis shouldn't have intervened and stopped teammates Braylon Edwards and Derek Anderson from fighting on the sideline, he should have intervened and stopped fans from watching. The 20-12 eyesore was so awful that the best play of the game was Edwards' post-TD air guitar riff. LeBron James just texted me that he's bolting his home state for New York if he ever has to watch these two teams play again. No joke.
Speaking of home states, I have to offer my sincerest apologies to my home state of Missouri. Last week, I claimed the Show-Me State boasted the worst tandem of NFL teams. I was wrong. The Kansas City Chiefs rocked the rival Denver Broncos at Arrowhead , and the St. Louis Rams will be better after handing the worst coach in the league his pink slip. In fact, I'm not so sure the best football team in the Buckeye State isn't, well, the Buckeyes.
To make matters worse, the Bengals didn't even have Carson Palmer. You know, the former Pro Bowler. And when I say former, I mean former. Palmer should pull an Ocho Cinco and change his name, because he's obviously not the same quarterback he used to be. His replacement, Ryan Fitzpatrick, was even worse. Who is Fitzpatrick? He's tall, athletic and a Harvard grad. Uh, so is Barack Obama, but does that make him an NFL quarterback? Fitzpatrick was so horrific that his 44.1 QB rating was closer to his college GPA than his IQ. Good thing he has that Ivy League degree to fall back on.
As for the Browns, one team eventually had to win, right? Edwards might have gone all Jimi Hendrix in the end zone, but the rest of his performance resembled a balding baby boomer trying to keep up with his teenage son at "Rock Band." Part of the problem was his quarterback, who has returned to being plain ol' Mr. Anderson after his Neo-like 2007 campaign. Derek, I suggest that you go out and get yourself a Brady Quinn voodoo doll, and do it fast. Quinn's wait to become the Browns' starting QB won't even last as long as his green room draft layover if you keep this up.
Romeo Crennel said he considered giving Anderson the hook for Quinn, but "wanted to give him another chance." Giving the Bengals or Browns another chance is something that I suggest no NFL fan does any time soon. The game was so unwatchable that even Kellen Winslow Sr. clicked the "off" button on his remote. Chad Johnson, er, Ocho Cinco might not have danced when he finally scored his first touchdown of the year, but I was dancing when this game was finally over. The two teams play again four days before Christmas, but if they really want to give their fans a present they'll not show up.
The state of the race for the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft is now clear, and that state is Ohio.
