Sources have informed Pro Football Central that the Cincinnati Bengals are nearing toward a decision that could result in head coach Marvin Lewis being fired by the end of the week. The source also states that owner Mike Brown is also deciding upon whether to name assistant head coach Paul Alexander or defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer as the interim head coach. The Bengals are 0-4 for the first time since 2002, when they went a franchise-worst 2-12 that got coach Dick LeBeau fired.
I haven't heard this anywhere else, so I don't know if it's true or not. I've never heard of this source before I saw it linked on the Bengals.com message boards today. If it's true, at least Mike isn't considering hiring Brat. In fact, I hope that he sends Brat packing with Marvin. Unfortunately, he is considering Alexander who currently presides over the worst unit on the team. I would hope that he picks Zimmer.

Bengals fire Marvin Lewis hire Bratkowski

CINCINNATI(AP)-- Owner of the Cincinnati Bengals, Mike Brown, fired Head Coach Marvin Lewis after a 0-4 start. Brown hired Offensive Guru Bob Bratkowski. Brown said "He is very loyal and can turn this season around"
Bratkowski could not be reached. He was in Re-Hab for alcoholism.
Posters at MikeBrownSucks were not surprised at the hiring of Bratkowski. They just laughed then cried and started drinking beer.

Yeah--Mike Brown had to follow his West Coast idiot Al Davis in firing their head coaches at the beginning of the year. Yeah--like this sh*t is Marvin Lewis' fault. Thanks to Mike Brown's Bungling in the non-disciplining of his players, Lewis lost his lockerroom to players like Henry and Chad. Lewis had no reign EVER.
I believe this is one of the many reasons why Chris left this website. He realized that he made a major error in saying that Marvin Lewis was ever in charge. No way. No how. Now he's going to be Mikey's scapegoat. If I were Lewis, I wouldn't wait around for Mikey to fire me--I'd resign right now--stating that management undercut me in anyway possible. Citing irreconcilable differences.
Who WOULD be able to get along with Mikey who actually wanted to WIN anything? His undercutting and thrifty spending ways would undermine anything creative that you would want to do. Changing personnel? No facking way. Creating a draft scenario where the Bungles look better in the long-run? Not a chance. Trading your mouthy idiot WR for a couple of high round draft picks? Forget it.
If I were Lewis, I'd be glad to be out of Cincinnati.
"So he got fired? Big deal. It's happened to the best of us. So he got kicked out of his house by his 400 lb'ed wife?!?!? That's probably better for him anyways."-OldSchooler on ChrisMBHater's absence

This is a case where you have two sources of the problem: an inept owner and an incompetent coach. You can't tell me Giggles is a good coach with his horrible clock management, inability to make adjustments on the fly, and poor decision-making in forming the 53-man roster. Management sucks and the coaches suck. All of 'em. The whole organization should be fired from the NFL.

If Marvin quits then he forfeits his salary. So just as Lane Kiffin he wont be that stupid. marvin will get picked up as someones D coord immediately follwoing. Most owners know and seen how brown undercut him. i still think he is a lousy coach however.

Marvin will be a head coach

All you have to do is look at all the retread coaches out there and it is obvious Marvin will be coaching again. How about Bill Cowher at Cleveland and Marvin as his D coordinator?
That would be priceless.
Still, I think Lewis gets another head coaching gig.

I agree.. I think Marvin would be ecstatic to be out of Cincy. And as for the 2 choices named.... to me, they are laughable. Our D is Vanilla and our offense... hahaha.

Bronco, you always come off like a pure voice of reason, but I can't get completely in your corner this time.
For one, the Bungs really haven't played anyone that had an undeniably good offense.
And two, even these lackluster offenses, when it came crunch time against the Bungs, jammed the ball down their Fraidy Cat throats with authority, just like all teams have over the last 18 years.
If Dallas scores less than 30 (and the Bungs don't enjoy their ridiculous good luck in the process) I'll rethink your point.

That's right, they are spoiling some of our fun. What most of us want is for them to not only lose, but to lose BADLY. Hopefully these players with some talent that are keeping the Bungs from getting blown out will stop wasting their careers away in Cincinnati and find a real NFL team to play for.
