Who's your top 10? Here's is mine in no particular order:

1. Gotta be Mikey
2. The Bidwells. Not only did they steal public funding for their stadium--but they also used the age-old reason for a new stadium--TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE. Come'on. You have a great market for football. Those fans are borderline desperate. You may have just saved yourselves 10 years on that Super Bowl run. Just call me displeased with you efforts.
3. The Fords. Jesus Christ. Where to begin with these f*cking guys? First you have Barry Sanders retiring because you gave him nothing to work with. You almost got Barry killed in the games that you played him in--because 4 out of 5 guys in front of him should have been playing in Arena Leagues. Hell, I've went up against guys in the semi-pro leagues that were better. Then you hire HC's that weren't prepared or not even supposed to be HC's. Finally, you have MATT F'ING MILLEN. Christ. Lion Fans are decent fans. They deserve better.
4. Jerry F'ing Jones. Good God. It's like a Soap Opera down there. All the drama. You hire decent coaches only to fire them when you can't deal with their egos. Then you hire pansies for coaches because they're "player coaches". For the Love of friggin' Pete.
5. Daniel Goddamn Snyder. The ego. The pissant. Redskin Fans are some of the greatest fans on earth. They surely deserve better.
6. Paul Allen. LSF--you have to appreciate this one. Kept the Walrus around far too long. Signed a WR instead of the best guard in the league to put azzes in the seats--then Burleson hardly shows up. Good friggin' Lord. What a trainwreck.
7. Al Lerner. How many bad things can you say about this guy? A loanshark. A bad f*cking owner. Great businessman. Keep up the good work on your franchise, Big Al. You suck.
8. Al Davis. Just a step lower than Jerry Jones on the Soap Opera Scale. This guy has just as many deliquents as Mike Brown. The only thing saving face for Big Al is that he used to be a winner. Now his franchise has went the way of the Romans. Just sad.
9. Eddie Bartolo's Sister (49ers)--Good Lord. This sl*t could f*ck up a wet dream. She almost f*cked up by not taking on Singletary. Bad FA Signings. Bad draft picks. The list goes on and on.
10. Post Georgiana Fronterre (sp?) Rams Ownership. This has been a bad team since Kurt Warner left. How in the hell do you let your defense get that bad? Then take on that many bad coaches? St. Louis also deserves better.

There's my 10. I also have two great bonuses:

11. Chiefs Ownership (his name escapes me)
12. Arthur Blank for the Michael Vick wheelchair thing almost alone.

"So he got fired? Big deal. It's happened to the best of us. So he got kicked out of his house by his 400 lb'ed wife?!?!? That's probably better for him anyways."-OldSchooler on ChrisMBHater's absence

Hmmm, well there's BAD owners but you don't necessarily HATE them (namely if they're owning your team's archrival), but most of the ones you hate are bad and their arrogance annoys you. Here's a stab at the ones I hate most in all of sports (but as it turns out, 7 of the 10 of them are in the NFL anyway):

10) Ralph Wilson (Buffalo Bills): Two things that I am against-- the NFL in Canada (*especially* Toronto) and Mike Brown. Ralph Wilson is an enabler of both.

9) Donald Sterling (Los Angeles Clippers). Like most sports fans who follow basketball, I hate the Lakers and Sterling has made a 20+ year career out of just letting them run L.A. All he had to do at any given point during the 1990s was fire Elgin Baylor but he wouldn't do it. And guilty of housing discrimination to boot.

8) Bill Bidwell (Arizona Cardinals). He moves onto the list because his "blind squirrel finds an acorn" moment will enable the Sheople (although really his sons have helped add a modicum of credibility to the franchise). Damn him!

7) Ted Rogers (Toronto Blue Jays). Personal bias here. I'm a Jays fan and I'm not necessarily annoyed by the fact that my favourite team has to be cheaper than the competition given their low attendance......except for the fact that Rogers is worth BILLIONS! He has his baseball team providing his two sports channels with hours and hours and hours of free content, bought the stadium for a song, yet insists that he can't come close to spending what the Yanks and Red Sox do. It goes undetected by the American media because they don't realize how wealthy the Jays' ownership actually is.

6) Dan Rooney (Pittsburgh Steelers). It's complicated. He does what he's supposed to do, but I think I hate him because he's the ultimate reminder of what Mike Brown is not.

5) Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboys). The ultimate meddler and responsible for replacing Jimmy Johnson with Barry Switzer and then following up Parcells' retirement with Wade Phillips (talk about moving down). Ridonkulous. What's particularly galling about Jerry Jones is that he couldn't handle what Jimmy Johnson did for the 'Boys and decided that he needed more credit. I hate owners like that. Worry about winning first, credit later.

4) Al Davis (Oakland Raiders). Paranoid even when he was cognizant, to the utmost degree now that he's lost his mind. Fancies himself as the Godfather of the NFL and that used to work but Marlon Brando's character had all of his bearings to his dying day and had some plan on preparing future ownership.

3) Jeffrey Loria (Florida Marlins). Went on what could only be described a purposeful attempt to sabotage one team (Montreal Expos) in order to weasel his way into another (Florida). Then won two World Series with two rent-a-teams with no regard for a year-to-year quality product for the fans and fired the best manager they could find because he has no interest in paying for a consistently good team.

2) The Fords (Detroit Lions). It's hard to impact change and convince Sheople of how bad Mike Brown is when the Fords are around to hog all the headlines on bad ownership. The most galling of atrocities was the Bengals' only playoff-clinching game coming against the Lions in Detroit....with the Lions' fans wearing orange and getting all the attention for THEIR bad ownership while the media treated the Bengals like all of their problems were solved! A galling wound that will probably hurt more and more each year.

1) Mike Brown (Cincinnati Bengals). Obviously.

Huizenga owned the Marlins for their first World Series and then dismantled them the next season because his team lost money (even with a big payroll their attendance was terrible).

I'm happy to see Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder appear on this list. Both are overrated because of their 'desire to win.' I recall maybe a year or two ago seeing them ranked as the top two owners in the NFL...they cannot hold a candle to Rooney or Kraft.

Oldschooler, I disagree with Randy Lerner...IMO he is Dan Snyder minus the meddling and minus the draw of the Washington market. The guy has an open checkbook...he simply has not had any luck with his hires. In defense of the Crennel hire, Crennel was the 'big name' coach that year after maybe Charlie Weis. Mangini IMO was a good hire. And as far as talent, they have some. He's not a top owner (after all, like I said, he's made bad hires), but he's not near the bottom either.

If I were to rank the NFL...

1. Dan Rooney, PIT...does things the right way, period
2. Bob Kraft, NWE...financial backer and fan who lets Belichik run the show (i.e. Belichik's signings are always good for team chemistry)
3. Green Bay Packers' Stockholders...other than the memories of their gay-Favre orgies, the idea of the leagues's smallest market owning it's team is awsome!
4. Pat Bowlen, DEN...Denver has high standards for the Broncos, and Shanahan deserved to be fired
5. John Mara, NYG...the Maras are kind of the lesser Rooneys, which is still a good thing
6. Jeffery Lurie, PHI...he has made the Eagles winners regularly at least...too much airtime like Bowlen, but he's better than the attention mongers
7. Jerry Richardson, CAR...the original Panthers' owner has done his best to win and will win a Superbowl eventually (hopefully his health holds out though)
8. Steve Bischotti, BAL...much better then Moddell
9. Jerry Jones, DAL...say what you will, but the guy wants to win (although at all costs)
10. Paul Allen, SEA...the Seahawks have definitely had their best years under this regime
11. Malcolm Glazer, TB...kept Gruden for far too long, but he has made Tampa Bay a football town!
12. Wayne Weaver, JAX...it would be interesting to see if the Jags would have more success in a larger market with a real stadium
13. Dan Snyder, WAS...since the hire of Gibbs the Redskins organization has been back on the right path. Snyder is learning from his mistakes at least
14. Jim Irsay, IND...drafting Manning was his franchise's "acorn" so to speak
15. Arthur Blank, ATL...rebuilt from the Vick disaster remarkably well!
16. Randy Lerner, CLE...like I said before, he will make Cleveland a winner if he could just make a descent hire or two
17. Virginia Halas McCaskey, CHI...cheap and conservative, but this is the threshold for descent to bad owners...see the rest!
18. Alex Spanos, SD...he's not the source of the Chargers' ongoing turmoil and drama, but being a Chargers fan has to be frustrating
19. Zygi Wilf, MIN...at least he hasn't moved the Vikes yet
20. Bud Adams, TEN...his football operations has always been pretty good actually, but he's not a very good business man NFL-wise
21. Woody Johnson, NYJ...not patient enough to win (i.e. signing Favre? firing the Mangina?)
22. Tom Benson, NO...the tragedy that was Katrina did save the Saints who otherwise would have been LA-bound if Benson were to have things his way
23. Clark Hunt, KC...hiring Pioli was a step in the right direction...too early to tell honestly
24. Wayne Huizenga, MIA...post-Marino has been unkind to everyone associated with the Dolphins (although Wayne is no longer the owner as of a few weeks ago)
25. Ralph Wilson, BUF...Buffalo is such a small market that he is in a tough place, but he should find an heir willing to keep the team in Buffalo if possible
26. Bob McNair, HOU...firing Casserly over not taking Bush or Young over Ryans is still laughable
27. Denise DeBartolo York and John York...incredible how they took the best franchise in the NFL and ran it into a laughing stock
28. William Clay Ford, DET...the Millen era was pathetic, but the Fontes/Sanders era was sexy!
29. Bill Bidwell, ARZ...at least Wisenhunt was a good hire!
30. Chip Rosenbloom, StL...the Rams were good at least sometimes under Georgia Frontiere
31. Al Davis, OAK...this one hurts b/c he is an AFL/NFL great builder, but the guy is off his rocker at his age, and all of the lawsuits and distractions taint him a bit
32. Mike Brown, CIN...did you expect anyone else

I'm inclined to agree about having Holmgren around to long. Mike's bad at clock management and is way too loyal to bad assistants like defensive coordinator John Marshall.

Not franchising Hutchinson was indeed a HUGE f-up. We haven't had a good running game since then. In fact, if we had kept him, we might not have gone something like 1 for 8 in short yardage situation against the Bears in the 2007 divisional playoff game; and probably would have won that game.

That said, the general consensus among us Seahawks fans is that it was GM Tim Ruskell who let Hutch slip away, not Paul Allen.

I struggle with asking myself which is worse, is it the Brown family or the Ford family? Is it worse to be a Bengal fan or a Detroit fan? On the one hand, if you look back over the last decade and a half Cincinnati has accomplished some pretty impressive feats such as only having one winning season as well as going 0-6 the most times in NFL franchise history. However, looking up north you have the Lions who have just accomplished the golden grail of loserdom which is a picture perfect 0-16 season. That in itself is impressive enough to second guess picking the Brown family.

I guess for me the thing that clinches Mikey and his ilk being the best of the worst is the way he ran into the ground the franchise the moment he touched it. Conversely, the Lions have never really had the success as the Bengals did under Paul Brown.

As for the rest of the list, nothing comes close to either.

You'll have to cross ole Ted Rogers off your list -- he died last December.

"The answer to the general manager problem is the same answer that we have to have for all these criticisms. We have to win. When we manage to do that, we won't hear so much about that kind of talk." - football genius Mike Brown

Hahaha, actually I knew that but for some reason blanked it out (probably because I'm not expecting the son to be any different). I guess "Rogers family" would have made a better description.
