Not only were the 70s Stealers juiced, but I would bet that at least a couple players on the current Superbowl squad are using HGH, which the league doesn't test for despite safe and effective tests existing.
I hope the NFLPA looks at that and allows more rigorous testing so that football maintains its claim to being the most vigorous professional sport in terms of discouraging the use of illlegal and dangerous supplements, and so it doesn't got the way of baseball.
How are you going to suspend players for diuretics, and then not even test for HGH?

Steroids were not banned in the NFL until 1981 and were not tested for until 87 I believe. They were easily obtainable by prescription before they were made a schedule III drug later.
Its hard to say the Stealers cheated since it was not against NFL rules or illegal to use them.
The NFL turned a blind eye to steroid use in the 70s since the bigger faster harder hitting players were making the game more exciting. It wasn't until Congress started snooping around that the NFL and Player's union finally did something about it lest they get told what to do.
Today's Stealer's are a different story.

Now they even have a urine test for HGH, though it probably has not been scientifically scrutinized as much as it should be before being used with people's careers on the line.
You probably just thought they didn't exist because people like Bud Selig like to tell the media that these tests don't exist so thye can avoid looking like the pathetic enablers of the destruction of the game that they are.

Not only are the blood tests for HGH safe and effective, they are reliable as all get out. They've been tested and retested over and over and over. In science, repeating results are the key. Its called the Scientific Method. That's Science 101 in 7th grade folks. Here's the problem: The UNION. The GREAT OZ behind the curtain.
I have a pharmacy background and was heavily involved in the early 1990's in developing policy for drug testing in the workplace for the State of CA. Testing can be done for HGH. The science is there. You got to want to clean up the mess. That is the first step.

Almost forgot, the team that deserves an * is the Bengals. All these years and one winning season. All the while the team up in Pittsburgh picked high in the draft year after year and continues to this day to churn out winners. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Mike Brown never heard any advice he did not detest.
