Hospin's mock was released today:
http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/national-mock-up/abd52c72-8253-4142-886c-9e731585ce26

I was wondering what you guys think will happen, especially in the top 10.

Here's what I am thinking:

1) Detroit, Matthew Stafford -- start the building with a QB

2) St. Louis, Jason Smith -- Need help depsperately on the O-Line

3) Kansas City, Aaron Curry -- new GM Pioli cannot pass up such a verstaile LB, though I think Haley will be pushing for Monroe

4) Seattle, Eugene Monroe -- Walter Jones is way old

5) Cleveland, Michael Crabtree -- Tempted by Orakpo, but I think Mangini's disastrous selection of Gholston will make him think twice. He'll play it safe this time around and land some insurance in case Braylon sucks ass again and Donte is cozying up to a cellmate named Bubba

6) Bungles, Andre Smith -- put on the tape. Guy is a consensus top 10 or even top 5 talent, and brown-hole can't pass that up. I don't think this guy will ever mature as a Bungle and that it will be remembered as a crappy pick, so another reason that it will probably happen.

7) Raiders, BJ Raji -- surprise pick of the top 10. Davis will no doubt be tempted by Maclin or even Darius-Heyward Bey, but cooler heads have so far prevailed in Oakland this spring and Raji is the top talent on the board.

8)Jacksonville, Jeremy Maclin -- Are thanking God the Raiders passed on him. Can replace MJD as a returner and be the best receiver on the roster.

9) Green Bay, Brian Orakpo -- switching to a 3-4, so a no-brainer.

10) San Francisco, "Dirty" Sanchez -- will also consider Freeman here, but Singletary did moon his players last year so it is doubtful he turns down the Dirty Sanchez, lol.

For the life of me, I do not understand the fascination with Stafford. I know he is a prototypical pro QB body, but the guy chokes in big games. How many times has he beaten Florida? 1 out of 3 times?

They were supposed to be "God-like" in 2007 and lost to South Carolina and Tennessee (badly). This past year was supposed to be another run for the title and they lost to Georgia Tech, Florida and Bama.

I think the guy is a decent QB, dont get me wrong, but #1????

WTF?

Would it make more sense for the Bungs to trade a 1st and 3rd for 2-time pro-bowler Jason Peters than to draft Andre Smith?

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation/0-7-145/Bills-no-closer-to-trading-Peters-than-to-signing-him.html

If they are asking a 1st and 3rd, they may take the Bungs 1st and 4th since they are at the top of the round. This guy is a beast and would help immediately, but I am not sure the Bungs could get him under contract. But if you are going to sign a LT for millions and millions, why not someone who has already shown what he can do at this level?

The article does say that Smith is immediate starting material though. Maybe it won't be as bad as it seems if they draft him, but how could you not have serious reservations?

"We do do, and we do it at a very, very high level," Lewis said.

Last year at this time, almost all the mock drafts had the Bengals taking Tackle Cedric Ellis. This year, there's nothing remotely close to a consensus. Out of the eight mocks posted on USA today, for example, there are seven different projections for the Bengals pick:

Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
Eugene Monroe, T, Virginia
Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
Andre Smith, T, Alabama
Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State
Andre Smith, T, Alabama
B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College

Only Andre Smith shows up twice. When we get to 3-4 days before the draft, we might see some very different looking mocks for the top of the draft. Maybe in part because of Knowshon Moreno:

This reminds me a little of the 2005 draft, when the mocks were all over the place, at least until very late.

"If he's available they better take Andre Smith"

Why would you want this fat lazy piece of sh*t? The guy can't get to 3 of his most important dates. Why in the f*ck do you think this guy will show up at all?

Left Tackles are supposed to be cerebral. Smith has shown NONE of that. In fact, I'll say that Smith could possibly be your next malcontent--showing up late to meetings--not showing up at all. Showing up to Camp out of shape carrying a dozen Twinkies. Getting into trouble. Whatever.

Don't pay this guy. Trust me on this one. Cincinnati doesn't have what it takes to contain this guy's ability to bend the rules.

I totally agree. This guy has trouble tattooed on his forehead. When some guys end up behaving badly it is a genuine surprise. Nothing in their past indicated they would turn out to be turds. But when you've got this many red flags hanging out your sphincter you've got no excuse when your player ends up on a police blotter.

I hate to sound like your typical MSNBC watching, Socialist Kool-Aid drinking, dead-from-the-neck-up Keith Olberman Liberal nut sack, but some of this behavior is partly societal. These are 19 year old college students who have never had a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. They've been taught and treated like they were Gods since they were 8 years old. If they are like me and a few of my friends they make their own tomato soup from McDonald's ketchup packets and hot water......but they're NOT like me. Now, suddenly, they're walking around with a $2 million signing bonus and a monthly check big enough to feed Darfur. And oh by the way, suddenly they have more "friends" than they've ever imagined. The allure of the big city night life is just too tempting when all your new friends want to do is party 'til dawn. And then the natural product of drugs X alcohol X violence = Jail. IMO, personal finance should be taught as a mandatory course beginning in Junior High School. But since that won't happen the NFL should have a mandatory series of seminars for all rookies to teach them how to manage their money and avoid getting an "entourage" of blood sucking "home boys."
