Yeah Murf your right. Don't draft a tackle with the first pick. Let's give up the third most sacks in the NFL again. Let's let Carson Palmer get injured again and miss another season. We struggle to run the ball and Carson Palmer has no time to throw the ball, but we don't need a tackle. Carson is useless if he lying on his back or on the injury report. You make no sense.

"Great runner between tackles, has a good nose for the endzone.
This offseason is one of the best in a very long time.
I will give it an A, if they don't draft a lineman at 6.
Still hearing talk about a tackle.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Why are we discussing a Special Teams guy with the 1st round of the draft in the same sentence? WTF??!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Am I seeing this straight or is Murf's perception of football completely different from the average intelligent fan?
"So he got fired? Big deal. It's happened to the best of us. So he got kicked out of his house by his 400 lb'ed wife?!?!? That's probably better for him anyways."-OldSchooler on ChrisMBHater's absence

On the one hand, I have to laugh at the notion of the Bungs getting another team's second stringer (or is it their their third stringer) a savvy personnel move.
But then I've already laughed at other analysis, like that the Bungs offensive line was about the weakest statistically in the NFL last year, but it's ok because they're young.
If there is any justice, some how and some way, Carson will escape this miserable franchise and get to a serious NFL team.....like TJ.

Do you guys watch the NFL, or just higlites of the Bengals games on the lcoal networks for five minutes on sunday night?
Seriously.
This guy is nothing more than a special teamer, second or third string back, that can find the endzone in the redzone.
Nobody is claiming that he is the next comming of Barry Sanders.
Nobody is saying that the Bengals did anything special here.
They got a good young football player to upgrade thier roster a bit, during an offseason that they have been very active.
I was saying, if the team drafts a lineman, I will not be very happy with that pick, if they draft anyone else, I would think, that this has been a very good offseason.
Some of you guys, just need to watch girls feild hockey...it is obvious that you don't pay much attention to football much!

You did claim the guy was "great" between the tackles.
And you also have said that the Bengals offseason was great and that you would give it an "A."
You've also claimed the Bengals would make it to the playoffs last year, that Sarah Palin would be the punch that McCain needed to the win the fight, and that the Bengals don't need a GM or more scouts.
Just saying.

What point are you trying to make here???? You mean, the Bengals didn't make the playoffs and Sarah isn't VP??? Damn. I gotta make it a point to view reality rather than Fantasyland. Murf.....

Settle down murf.
I'm not saying that it was a bad move...it's a nice depth move (although this 'depth' guy didn't even make the Steelers roster at the beginning of the season).
I was just pointing out that there is nothing 'great' about this guy. He's solid on the goalline and in short yardage. I'm just saying, to say that this guy is 'great' would be like calling Leroy Hoard or Gary Brown or Zach Crockett a 'first ballot Hall of Famer!"
There is a place for goalline backs by the way, but even when Russell was getting carries, that was one of the Steelers' biggest weaknesses in 2009. A healthy Parker did all right the first couple of weeks. Carey Davis was awful in those situations. Mewelde Moore is not built for those situations. And we didn't see enough of Rashard Mendenhall to really know. But what I do know is that Russell began the season behind all of those guys on the depth chart, and by the end when Parker was back, Russell was a goalline specialist and a special teams guy but not much else.
And judging by our evaluations of this guy I would say that I watch (or at least understand) a LOT more football than you.

Mad at the idea of the Bungs winning a Super Bowl?
No way. Most of us are amused at the ample evidence that Mike Brown is a bumbling bufoon of a loser. And just about all of us are delighted at the joy of humiliated Sheep who defend Mikey with multitude excuses.

I bet pretty much everyone here would be delighted to see the Bengals win the Super Bowl. The difference is the rest of us are smart enough to see that will NEVER happen as long as Mikey Hole runs the show. Its sheep like murf who allow Mike Brown to have his way with the fans, while laughing all the way to the bank.

That's actually a very good explanation of a true 'Bengals Fan' vs a sheople.

Did they upgrade the roster?
Maybe.
Did they bring in a new face to compete vs below average talent?
Yes.
Have they had a very productive offseason?
Yes.
So why all of the crying?
It is just crazy to think of some of you as fans, when you never ever, ever, see anything good about the team.
Then you try to insult anyone that wants to be optimistic.
Typical ignorant fan chants, but it does get old at times.
Are they the best team in football b/c they inked a few people?
No, are they better today, than they were in November?
YEs.
Did they make the correct moves?
Who knows, I have liked everything they did.
Only wish Chad would go, but that is not going to happen, but I can live with what they have done this offseason.
My only fear is the Tackle pick at 6.
Ignoring great talent would be a stupid move.

Not sarcasm, just saying the guy is not all that. Fumblitis is a disease that many great backs had early in their careers but fixed over time and practice. Still not saying Perry is anything special but he has way better skills on paper.

I could see that Perry might be the better back (though I have no clue about Russell, haven't seen him enough only in the Superbowl and barely remmeber him).
But, I think Perry is still playing on a 1st rounders contract unless I missed him taking a voluntary pay cut. If that is true, then by now he will be making a lot more money than a guy signed off waivers. That is why I see Perry definitely getting cut at the end of preseason, and maybe Russel makes it maybe not. Depends a lot on the draft.
When Brownhole is your owner you have to take money into account at least as much as talent and I don't see him paying Perry.
