And Darius Hill, the un-drafted free agent out of Ball State looks real nice as well. Thankfully we are getting hit at a position that would not be as crucial as like say our OLine. I would be fine with Utech, Coffman, and Hill.

Unfortunately Kelly was important for our O-Line, he certainly wasn;t on the roster for his receving skills.
Making the matter more pressing is one Andre The Giant Man Boobs, all but penciled in to start at RT despite what is becoming a lengthy hold-out. Kelly would have been playing next to him, which would have been a huge help in pass protection. Now, can you imagine Smith and Utecht protecting Palmer's right side?
I agree that the injury may actually be better in the long run. Kelly was in the last year of his deal and is 32 anyway. It's time to see what we have in Utecht (very little is my guess) and see if he is worth the $3 mill a year Brown-hole forked out to this backup (my guess is an unequivocal NO!). And the extra work can only benefit Coffman who I actually harbor some hope for.
But right now, I view this as basically an injury to the O-Line, which is not good for us. But at least it wasn't Whit or Bobbie or Smith somehow getting injured reaching for the last Cheeto while sitting on the couch (an hour after signing would be our luck). So it could certainly be worse.

I swear I called him out in my post just BEFORE he was injured. Freaky, too bad it never works when I call out Mike Brown.
Of course I hope it is nothing serious and he has a speedy recovery, but for the sake of him and his family not because I think he will be a significant contribution to the team.
This guy is just too soft for the AFC North. If it's not injuries its fumbles (go ask a Colts fan). Ray Lewis will snap this guy like a twig, and good thing he plays offense cuz one Whines Hard block and this guy would have his head ripped off.
I really hope we can parlay some defensive depth into a trade for a legitimate TE, we need someone until Coffman can start. I think Bo Scaife would be an ideal addition to this team, but I don't think anyone on our D would sway the Titans to part with him.
I keep hearing rumors that we could make a trade, usually linked with our "D-Line depth," a statement which completely puzzles me. Plus I wouldn't no what to think if the Brown-hole made two trades in one offseason. That would be unprecedented wouldn't it?
But we do seem to have a log-jam at safety with Chris Crocker, Roy Williams, Ndukwe, Marvin White and two newbies from last year that I like, Corey Lynch and Kyries Herbert. We can't carry six safeties on the roster can we? And I don't think any of those guys would clear waivers (unless they were savvy enough to talk up White's injury as "career-threatening" and then sign him to the practice squad, but the Brown-hole be savvy? I try to be somewhat realistic). I don't see who we have that is disposable that would bring trade value, but TEs are relatively cheap. Also, heard a rumor that Klopfenstein may not even make the squad in St. Louis, he would certainly be more physical than Utecht or Coffman at this point, but you guys know how rumors fly this time of year...

As posted in Geoff Hobson's update:
"After a frightening dozen motionless minutes face down on the field in Wednesday night's practice, Bengals tight end Ben Utecht was diagnosed with a concussion and taken to Georgetown Community Hospital via ambulance. His head was taped to a board, but club spokesman Jack Brennan said he was fully conscious and had sensation and movement in his upper and lower extremities as he left the field."
You guys think the part where the trainer "taped his head to a board" may help explain the "injury bug" that the team chalks up to bad luck on an annual basis?
Do you think they really "tape his head to a board?" Like, masking tape and and some old lumber or something? Seems too absurd, but wouldn't put anything beyond the Brown-hole's frugality.
I've seen friends get taken to hospitals after routine traffic accidents just for precautionary reasons, they were not unconscious or in serious pain or anything. They were strapped into a stretcher with an entire head gear apparatus that was extremely secure. Shouldn't every football team have something like this? Maybe they do, but taping someone's head to a board does not sound even remotely like it describes the same procedure that I witnessed.
Was anyone there to see exactly how it went down?

Maybe it has something to do with the helment. I know they only take off the facemask in these situations and leave the helmet on. But I agree, you would think someone would design an apparatus for helmets for football injuries like this.
