He will have issues like this for the rest of his life.
I am not ready to toss him to the wolves and call him a failure just yet.
What is not mentioned in the story is, how we he just p!ssed away a huge payday.
His contract is up and the team was having trouble inking him to a long term deal, now the ball is back in the teams court and Hamilton has to just suck it up.
They can't give you a 60-70 million dollar deal if they can't trust that you are not going to fall again.

I hope the guy makes it, he is probably one of the most talented baseball players out there.
He did it to himslef, but I am still pulling for him...would rather have him on the edge everday, than Willy in center.

It is big news down here in big D....this was back in January and he thought he could handle one. This was his first and only lapse sicne 2005. This was good for him in some sense. Now he knows and he can block out that temptation because he now knows he still can not handle it.

T, I really wish it worked that way but unfortunately murf is right on this. This dependency will be with him every day for the rest of his life. I have had personal experience with a family member who has gone through these same anguished and lonely episodes. It rips your heart out. But I think Josh has actually done remarkably well with this. 3 or 4 sober years is huge! He's fortunate to have such a dedicated support group surrounding him. More failures are likely, but as they say, it doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get back up. happy.gif

Except that you must consider that Mikey boy has fallen down everyday of his life, but he still gets back up. Damn his ability to defeat gravity.

Don't fight the power

I see many, including Hamilton himself have bought into the notion that complete abstinence is the answer...very silly. Why go into a battle that you have a good chance of losing? Better to take a few nips of the nectar now and then and keep the demons in their place.

I hope he pulls through. What bugs me is that he has a beautiful wife and kids. Yet he is jerking around with a bunch of skanks using thier cell phones to take pics.

It is ironic that Volquez and him both fall off this year.
