So What, he can beat Michigan. He can't win any other big games, oops I forgot about kansas State 3 or 4 years ago in a BCS game.
I don't think the guy has the attitude to go to a down opponent and step on his neck. He is so academic that everyone has him analyzed down to what he has for breakfast.
I think he lacks the killer instinct that the SEC coaches have. He's been here too long.

I am on that bus with you. I made this comment to a bunch of OSU fans and they called me crazy. I used to say as long as we beat scUM I dont care....but reality is I am sick of being a laughing stock becus scUM is a bigger laughing stock.
Tressel needs to go or open it up. Needs to fire and hire new coaches.

Who's the next Buckeye HC? I am tiring of Tressel's loyalty committments to his coaching staff--but when your offensive coordinator SUCKS C*CK--then it's time to let the guy walk.
That game should have been 23-10 on that final drive--if Tressel would have opened up the offense more--but is there any play more predictable than running on 1st and 10 with 9 players in the box on defense? That sh*t's not going anywhere. I wanna see a show of hands--how many people were screaming at the TV "that ball has got to go in the air" on 1st downs the other night? USC Defenders were creeping up to the line on 1st downs--then setting back on 2nd and 3rd down.
Also, OSU--if you're going to run the Spread Offense--then please go to Urban Meyer's Spread Offense Camp to learn how to run it!!!!!!!!!!!! That sh*t's the ugliest offense in all of Collegiate Football.
If I were OSU's Athletic Director, I would do this to Coach Tressel:
"Either change your coaching staff--or suffer the consequences--you have 30 days to comply."
That would after the what---OUTBACK BOWL this year? They may be rematching with USC--if I'm thinking right. And that would be ugly again.

It's just Big 10 football. OSU is the best of that bunch, but as a whole this group of programs should be lumped together with the MAC and Notre Dame for a second tier set of Bowls.

Bob Stoops has a big problem winning the big game too. Lloyd Carr is too old (I know that was sarcasm anyways). So that leaves us with Kelly and Meyer. I think Kelly would actually be good. And I have no idea why Meyer would leave the situation that he has in Florida--see Steve Spurrier for results on leaving Florida.
So Kelly? What is his resume like?

I don't think Tressel should leave. After all, when did OSU make it to "big games"? It was when Tressel took over, was it not? What we are seeing now is the discrepency between the Big Ten and the elite coastal teams like USC and Florida that has existed long before Tressel ever came to OSU. We just never realized it because OSU never got a chance to face these teams. OSU has lost the last 6 meetings with USC, but Tressel has only lost 2 of those. In addition, OSU is 0-9 against SEC teams, however, Tressel is responsible for only 2 of those. Having said that, who else was getting OSU to National title games? That's right, no one. Who else in the Big Ten has come 4 points away from beating USC in the last 20 years? That's right, no one. I say coach Tress is simply doing the best he can considering the logistics of his recruiting. Talent flees to the coasts, there is nothing that can bne done.
Also, don't forget coach Tressel won a national title game. How many in the Big Ten today can say that? How many will be able to say that in the future? That's right, no one.

With all the talent coming to OSU (8 years of top 5 recruiting classes) they should be up there with the USC and UF....Why cant tressel use and take advantage of the weapons he has. Why cant he be like Cooper and blow teams out by 40 plus. Dont give me the he lost to scUM bit.,..everybody is aware of his poor record - but he won big over everyone else.
Seriously..tress has taken 10 years of my life with his heart attack play. I see why he chose to get out of playing UC...he knew he was going to lose and is afraid of losing recruits to them when he did lose.
Its either that or needs to hire new line and o-coordinators

Nah... not yet. I still have some faith in him. This is a young offense. And we all know how he approaches game when he deems his team young. Conservative. Listen, Pryor is to blame for this. as well. He missed 2 open long balls. The shots down field were taken. We just didnt execute on them.
We have a much harder job in recruiting than SEC and USC. Weather. Beating Michigan is great though. And, I would rather be making it to these games (Florida, LSU), than not making them. The loss hurts, but so does Outback bowls.

listening to his comments this week and not understanding what the fans are upset about (pretty much mocking us for beind sad and unhappy people) then he doesnt get it. I would rather see him take some risks and lose than not do anything at all and hope for lady luck.
He has a YOUNG defense yets decides to punt in the 4th qtr when a FG was in range....this places the game on your YOUNG defense. He states he cant open up the offense because they are YOUNG....well the same works both ways.
Tressel needs to go. I have been stating this since 2002 when he won the championship. I hate his style of play. I should never have to worry about any game they play untill they play scUM or PSU. Yet I bite my nails every Fn week.

I think that you anti-Tressel fans are nuts.
Ohio has to be the most pathetic state in sports right now (Browns, Bungs, Reds, Indians). Ohio State football is the one team that never lets us down...at least those of us who are realists.
The Big Ten is simply not in the same league as the SEC/Big XII/Pac-10 right now. It is more on the same level as the ACC/Big East/Mountain West and a step above the WAC and MAC.
So what...the Buckeyes can't beat the Gators or Trojans...EVERYONE outside of Ohio expects the Bucks to lose to those kinds of programs, and EVERYONE outside of the Big Ten expects the Big Ten to lose to those programs (i.e. insert any recent Rose Bowl game).
It's not just you guys...the papers and call-in shows have been ridiculous also. The talent is not there to beat those kinds of teams, and it's understandable. What big name prospect out there would want to play at OSU or Wisconsin or Penn State in a conference playing 1950s style football while they could go to Southern Cal playing in a pro style offense/defense and pretty much a guaranteed ticket to the NFL no matter how mediocre you really are (see: Leinart, Williams, Bush, and most recently this enrtire LB class other than maybe Matthews).
Tressel is a great coach and 115 or so programs out there would want him, Florida, Texas, and Southern Cal not withstanding...
The Big Ten is the embarrassment, and until someone from this conference stands up and wins a big game, it will be second rate. PERIOD.

Wyche...could not have said it better myself.
The 3 yards and a cloud of dust, leaves you with 4th down.
The game has changed to a pass first scheme, back the defense up and then run the ball.
Slashing backs with break away speed and big and fast wideouts are harder to stop, then some smash mouth run game.
I think the Big Ten is still a smash mouth run the ball and stop the run type of league.
Michigan is going to dominate that league with that spread/wide open offense, as soon as he gets his players in there.

What? have you seen Penn State, Michigan, Purdue and Ohio state play? Who is their smash mouth back? LOL. These teams (well, Penn State, Michigan and Purdue) have pretty exciting offenses.
OSU may not be opening it up like we want, but they are far from a "Smash Mouth" team.

Why is everyone so willing to blame the head coach everytime a team does poorly? I think that our team was as prepared as they could have been for this game and the PLAYERS failed to execute! Jim Tressel is a god in my house and I will be damned if I sit around and let a bunch of bottom feeding haters trash him in any way. Jim Tressel is the best thing to happen to OSU since Woody Hayes! Move back to hating on the Bengals... At least they deserve it!

"Why is everyone so willing to blame the head coach everytime a team does poorly?"
Because a team is a direct reflection of a coach on the field. That's why. If your offense can't even run the spread offense properly, then you've got coaching issues. When a team folds in the final 10 minutes of the game--then there is a coaching issue. When you have top recruiting classes after top recruiting classes--and your team speed DOES match other teams' speed and it appears that other top 5 teams outclass you in speed--then you may have a coaching problem.
Jesus. I feel like the football version of that redneck Jeff F*cking Foxworthy.
