SPREAD THE FIELD OUT.
WHEN THE PATRIOTS HAVE TORCHED THE STEELERS IN THE PAST, THEY SPREAD THE FIELD OUT AND MADE QUICK THROWS.
YOU ARE NOT GOING TO RUN ON THEM, STROKE YOUR EGO THE FOLLOWING WEEK, THIS WEEK, SPREAD IT OUT AND MAKE QUICK CHOICES.
DEFENSE...
HAVE TO TACKLE PARKER AT THE LINE OR BEFORE THE LINE, HE IS TOO FAST TO GET INTO THE SECONDARY.
WARD AND HOLMES ARE ONL GOOD WHEN IT TURNS INTO BACK YARD FOOTBALL, GET TO BEN...THAT STEELER LINE IS NOT GOOD AT ALL.
BLITZ AND BLITZ AND BLITZ.
Bengals are better on paper, but behind in mind power.
The Steelers believe they are going to win every game on the schedule, the Bengals hope to compete and pray for a win at the end.
This mind set comes from the coaching staff.
Marvin would rather play not to lose, Tomlin, just like the previous coach, plays to win every game and it shows on the sidelines.
SPREAD IT OUT..USE YOUR WEAPONS
HENRY/SCOTT/JOHNSON/CALDWELL/COLES/BENSON/LEANORD....CARSON
NOT COATS OR FOSCHI---KEEP THEM IN THE LOCKER ROOM.

Since murf & I are getting closer to the same page this week....let's see how I dis/agree with this:
>>>>SPREAD THE FIELD OUT. WHEN THE PATRIOTS HAVE TORCHED THE STEELERS IN THE >>>>PAST, THEY SPREAD THE FIELD OUT AND MADE QUICK THROWS. YOU ARE NOT GOING >>>>TO RUN ON THEM....
Problem is, Brat seems incapable of spreading the field out until he has first established the run. I feel horribly guilty because I remember watching him in a couple of '06 games and thinking "dammit Brat, run to set up the pass!......" and it's like he read the messageboard and took the advice WAYYYYYYY too seriously. I don't mind trying a first down run...but if you see the matchups are there, play around. We'll see what happens.
>>>DEFENSE...HAVE TO TACKLE PARKER AT THE LINE OR BEFORE THE LINE, HE IS TOO >>>FAST TO GET INTO THE SECONDARY.
I concur, alas I still don't trust the Bengals against the run. Pittsburgh is notorious for having won the SB despite a bad offensive line and a bad running game so something has to give.
>>>>WARD AND HOLMES ARE ONL GOOD WHEN IT TURNS INTO BACK YARD FOOTBALL,
>>>>GET TO BEN...THAT STEELER LINE IS NOT GOOD AT ALL.
True but neither is the Bengals' O-line and here's a fundamental problem and sorry murf, it's gonna involve knocking Carson at Ben's expense.....
Ben will get sacked. Ben will take a lot of hard hits. Ben will overdramatize how hurt he is like the drama queen he can sometimes be.
But history shows that Ben will still get up, stay in the game and pull out a big play when he needs to. If Carson takes multiple hits, will he stay in the game or will he just break his leg again?
It's the same with Ward & Holmes vs. Bengals receivers. Bengals receivers are faster and they probably have better hands, but guess what? The Steelers receivers are tougher...and if Chad and Hines each take two mega-hard hits in the first half, who's gonna laugh it off and keep producing vs. who's gonna get real hesistant and back down?
A lot of it probably comes down to something else you said.......:
>>>>>Bengals are better on paper, but behind in mind power.
>>>>>This mind set comes from the coaching staff.
I 75% agree with you. The other 25% says "Mike Brown contributes to the lack of mind power but you just don't see it." But that's a digression for another thread. But you are right that Marvin will make conservative decisions that will just burn the team up while Tomlin will go for it and show confidence.
>>>>>NOT COATS OR FOSCHI---KEEP THEM IN THE LOCKER ROOM.
No argument here!!!
If I'm the Bengals, I don't want the ball first. I want Pittsburgh to get the ball first. I want Crocker and Maualuga to get a chance to hit someone and hit them hard. I want the defense to establish a "not in our house" vibe that will then in turn give the offense some swagger. And the thing is...Pitt's O-line could make the Bengals' D-line look pretty damn decent so that Ben will be forced to throw it into that battlefield.
I can't disagree with most of what you say here, murf, but I'm loathe to trust the Bengals' coaching staff to make the decisions you suggest nor trust the players to take the hits and get back up smiling.

We are about to face an OLine no where near GB's. On the other hand though, Ben is used to getting pressured. I mean, he was the most sacked QB in the NFL last year. They know we are coming off a great game, lead the league in sacks (LOVE saying that), and will be ready for it, so it wont be a big surprise to them. We just need to bring Ben down when we get to him and not let him run around and hit Limas Sweed, who will probably have Crocker on him for a big gain.
Offense.... play action, and run right into the teeth of the Steelers. You're not going to outrun their front 7, so you better get a helmet on them. We should be able to hit the quick pass like Murf said.
"Leave Coats and that other guy in the locker room..... "
I thought you were suiting up Murf! Agreed. Put out the 4 horses. Leave a TB in to block.

Coles cant drop any balls and look for Henry streaking down the sidelines (no Troy to stop them).
"Falc, just because I respond, please dont take it to mean that I give a sh!t about you. I respond because you are the type of person that needs to be told what a whack job you are or else you will go on thinking your behavior is normal and accepted. "

Lumina and TITR have it right.
The Bungs can't/won't beat the Steelers at PBS...they just can't/don't.
But seeing if Rivers and the Bengals will take refuge at Ward will be interesting. While the hit last year was completely clean/legal, that doesn't mean that myself and most of America would not want to see "the Korean knocked out of Ward!" LOL! Very good player, but one of the most obnoxious players of all-time!!!!

"Rivers drilling Ward so hard he knocks the Korean out of him."
Somehow I think another broken jaw will happen (to Rivers) before Rivers knocks the sh*t outta Ward. Just call it a hunch.
