OK, I listened to 5-10 minutes of this press conference and unless Marvin & Mike are the greatest actors in the world at portraying everything as exactly as it's been in the past eight years...everything is exactly as it's been in the past eight years.
In five minutes, I learned that:
1) Marvin claims he has "no idea that he's ever said" anything relating to more demands over control (translation to me: I got nothing in concessions, too bad everybody)
2) Mike says that "we know last year was disappointing" (translation: "I'm oblivious to the fact that the past 20 YEARS have been disappointing)
3) Mike says "we're close" (translation: "I'm oblivious to the fact that we're not close.")
4) Mike says "the scouting thing always raises up when we don't do well" (translation: "I'm oblivious to the fact that we always don't do well")
5) Mike says he "has a desire for a practice facility" but "not as keen" as Marvin (translation: "I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to get people to shut up about this")
Marvin was a really crappy coach this year but because of the patchwork job he pulled off in 2009, he had a chance to really show up Mikey here. It appears that he's blown it. Unless I discover this conference was a grand charade and the true story has something to do with Brat being canned and new personnel, etc....whatever goodwill I had towards Marvin is completely exhausted.

WOOOOOW! I turned it off. I almost fell asleep. Nothing has changed. Marvin's "feelers" about where he would land was probably not very promising. And MikeHole's "feelers" about Marvin were that no one was interested, so, he knew that, and didn't budge on anything.
Very depressing for Bengal fans.
Very humerous for people who have took their emotions out of this organization.

Among the first words to my brother upon listening to it was that "I should call my gf and say 'I have found my reason to become an Atlanta Falcons fan and this fu(*!ng press conference is the reason.'"
When you have a coach saying that the reason everything has sucked in the past year has been HIM and this is the press conference to announce his RE-SIGNING.....I don't think you can even add to that.

We all know:
- Marvy had no place to go as a HC in the NFL
- mikey wasn't exactly gonna have Tier 1 candidates knocking at his door
Advantage: mikey. Because it's not like he really wants to bring in a respected guy. After all, he didn't get that much bang for his buck w/ Marvy.
So Marvy probably got a few half-azzed concessions and a bunch of "we'll see's". I'm wondering if Marvy is looking at this short-term, hoping he can pull off a miracle and boost his stock?

Such is life for a Bungles fan.
After another terrible year, you imagine the really big, blockbuster Jerry Jones-style changes you would love to see. But you know they will never happen, not in a million years. It's absurd to even mention them, like the homers usually do.
Then you imagine the changes that would be relatively daring for the Brown Family to make. The type the journalists love to buzz about. But you know the chances for any of them happening are virtually nil, too.
Then you think of the more mundane, work-a-day changes the franchise absolutely needs to make. The type that would be no-brainers anywhere else. Of course they don't happen.
Then finally there's the barest of bare-bone minimalist changes that should almost happen on their own. You know they're soooo obvious and soooo easy to make, with such little prospect of negative consequence, that even the Bungles should relent and do the deeds. Predictably, they don't happen, either.
And I hate myself for thinking that maybe, just maybe, it would be different this year.
Time to mix myself an Old Fashioned and wallow in stupor.

Here is what will happen. The Bungs hey days are over. Yes, if you want to call two "one and done" their hey day, thats what it is. Brown may see this coming and will offer concessions to avoid blame. As expected the Bungs lose the next couple years, Brown emerges and says enough of this give up power experiment, I need to take more control.

They're a holiday tradition I picked up from my in-laws. Although the recipe they use is probably a bastardization of the proper one. Any way you make 'em, though, Old Fashioned's are the perfect drink for toasting Mike Brown. That dude was probably old-fashioned the day he popped out of the womb.
Here's to your poor grasp of reality, Mike!

Yes. That is all day long Mikey's drink.
In the bottom of a cocktail glass muttle a Slice Orange, pack of sugar, bitters, and a cherry. Fill glass with ice, pour in desired bourbon.
They are actually very very good. The owner of the bar and I one night drank about 7 each of them. We kept trying them with different bourbons. Or we just wanted to get drunk and they tasted really really good
