OK--so RIGHT NOW--if you were drafting a QB in the 1st round--who would you take? Kellen Moore or Andrew Luck?
For those of you who are saying Luck without a 2nd glance--not so fast. Hold the phone.
You realize that Moore just went up against a decent Georgia Defense--was pinpoint (28 for 34 for 82% completion percentage)--and made one mistake ONLY--by throwing into quad-coverage by locking onto one receiver. Otherwise, he was perfect--he keeps this up, he will be the Heisman Winner.
Oh BTW--he did all this in Georgia......
Moore is smart, TOUGH, and craftier than what he appears. Sure, he's goony. He's not going to win you any beauty awards. But the kid's got what it takes to win.
If your team doesn't get Luck--and has to draft Moore next year--I wouldn't be so pissed. I don't believe that Moore's much of a drop-off if any at all.
The only thing I'd be weary of--is Moore isn't that big--and doesn't have the NFL Prototypical Build--but neither does Brees........
I'd say you'd be okay with drafting either--as long as you don't start them as a Bungle or 49er QB in the 1st year.

Kellen Moore has been to New York TWICE (counting this year, barring injury). Not even Gino Torretta can brag on that one. Kellen Moore will go no less than 15th on the draft board next year. Name me less than 5 teams in the NFL who need a QB. Yes, the Bungles DO count. Go ahead.
My list goes like this:
BUNGLES
Raiders
Seahawks
49ers
Dolphins
Minnesota
Cardinals
Redskins
I'm sure there are others. Not only do these teams that I listed need a QB--but they need ONE bad. Kellen Moore has to be the 2nd QB taken on the draft board next year. I don't care what conference he's from. And if you missed it, last night, Mr. Moore passed for over 80% against an SEC Team. He wasn't going up against New Mexico State, UTEP, or Utah State. He was going up against a team that had a few future NFL Players on it.
Again--this is barring injury throughout this year. And you must have missed it--but Boise doesn't play in the WAC anymore--they play in the Mountain West Conference. I know this isn't a Premier Conference--but for the last 4 years, they have consistently placed a team in the BCS Bowls.

I would say that you guys are missing on one here.
There is a kid in Oklahoma that I would take a long look at before drafting Luck.
I am not saying he is better, just saying don't forget about him.
I watched an ESPN deal with him in the film room and how he understands the defense he is facing.
Playing qb is 80-20
you need 80% of you talent to come from your head and 20% that comes from your arm and feet.
A million people can chuck a football 60-70 yards. (41 and still can toss it deep!)
A million people can run and throw at the same time.
Very few can retain the skill to play that position at the pro level.
It starts in the film room and filters down from there.
If you don't understand how a defense works at all phases of the game, you have very little chance to become productive in the NFL.

"CFB is hands down BETTER than NFL. So what they dont have playoff....but the match ups they provide are still awesome"
I have to disagree. I have tried to get into college football (believe me God I have tried, anything would be better than following this train wreck of a team), but I think the matchups they provide are boring and lopsided as hell.
UC crushes Austin Peay in Week One like 72-10, and UC isn't even that good. OSU clobbers Akron, what a thriller! Who can stand to watch these games?
The thing about the NFL, Bengals and Bills aside, is that there is so much parity. Upsets are basically common place. A 10 point win is solid. Most games could still go either way headed into the 4th quarter.
College football? Not so much. Half the games seem to be over by the 1st quarter, especially this time of year. I find that to be incredibly boring.

Everything you say about Kellen Moore is the same thing they said about Alex Smith. He and Dalton are about on the same par.If clown hadnt been so desperate, and it was a normal,non-lockout,offseason Dalton wouldnt have been drafted till the 4th or 5th round maybe.Christian Ponder?1st round?LMAO.JMHO

"UC crushes Austin Peay in Week One like 72-10, and UC isn't even that good. OSU clobbers Akron, what a thriller! Who can stand to watch these games?"
The collegiate game is much, much different. It's not like the NFL where everything is supposedly on an even playing field. Austin Peay isn't even in the upper Division of 120 Schools. They aren't even Sun Belt (the weakest conference in FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision)). Austin Peay is in the next subdivision down called FCS (originally known as Division 1-AA).
As for Akron vs. Ohio State--forgetaboutit. There are certain weeks you can "skip" when you like a team.
What you wanted to do this week--was watch GAMES--not teams. Like LSU vs. Oregon--or Boise State vs. Georgia. Almost every week--there is a ranked opponent vs. another ranked opponent. Those are the games you wanna watch.
Also, the upsets of 1-10 ranked teams are great as well, unless your team is the one getting upset, right John Cooper?
Anyways--just trying to help--YOU CANNOT APPROACH THE NCAA'S LIKE THE NFL AS A FAN. Give it another chance. The collegiate game is heads above the Pro Game, IMHO. Much more compelling stories. Much more heart. Much more passion. Throw in tradition.....
And I can't name one NFL Stadium that holds 100,000 Fans. The NCAA's has around 4: Tennessee, Michigan, OSU, Penn State....

This will be Kellen Moore's 4th year of starting. Every year, he has been consistent. Alex Smith had ONE YEAR of starting. Decent stats--but you could argue that Smith was the Akili Smith of the MWC.
Andy Dalton had one year of 65% passing. Simply put, he was the man in 2010. However, he still doesn't have the numbers that Kellen Moore has posted for 4 years.
History speaks volumes here.
Also, argument for Alex Smith in the NFL--two things come to mind:
1. He's had 6 different Offensive Coordinators in 6 years.
2. He's been given the hook and has never gotten into a rhythm due to being pulled in those 6 years. You have to consistently start to get on a roll in the NFL. Under Singletary, if Smith threw one pick, he was pulled for the 2nd stringer. You can't have that in the NFL. Dingleberry made a mistake by pulling him--and set the 49ers and Smith's career back in YEARS by doing this.
IMO, Smith needs a brand new start. He wouldn't be that bad if this happened. Smith got a bad break in getting drafted by a horrible team with horrible management.
Are you listening Andrew Luck?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

"CFB is hands down BETTER than NFL. So what they dont have playoff....but the match ups they provide are still awesome"
I've thought about how to explain this and one good analogy is that the NFL is like any other pro sporting league, college football is a lot like boxing.
In a pro sport, who is ranked where means diddily-squat in terms of how events play out. There is a formula presented to teams in terms of making the playoffs. What they were "ranked" before the season means nothing. A team says to itself "win X number of games, we make the playoffs, win X number of games, we win the division, win X number of games we win the conference...?" etc. You know what the tiebreakers are going in and you know what you have to do to win the championship.
College football CONFERENCES are, to a degree, like that (although the idea of a BCS ranking being a tiebreaker, like it was in '08, for e.g., is absurd). But overall, it's more like boxing/MMA: no exact science, some people can get a "title shot" more readily than others just on the virtue of their name value and if you give a game/fight a "title," people may be inclined to give it value.
If you tried to make pro sports, including the NFL, like college football, you'd end up with things like the Playoff Bowl http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playoff_Bowl) and it just wouldn't work.

I love watching college football as much as I love the NFL.
I don't believe that you have a National Champion in college football and that is a big problem.
The media has too much power in college football.

There is no way he will go in the first round. The QB who started before him at Boise State made the trip to New York too. I don't think he is in the league any more. Heisman QB's don't translate like runningbacks.
I think the reason so many Qb's went high this year is the rookie pay scale. You know longer are worried about spending so much against the cap which makes it easier to take a chance on a QB. The days of paying Akili Smith 50 million are over.

"falc ...you analogy was probably the most intelligent comment I have ever heard you make."
Admittingly--I'm much better at the collegiate game than I am Pro. I hate knowing what a player makes and how much it affects the cap--guaranteed money, blah, blah, blah.....that money sh*t is BS to me. To me, players like Patrick Willis and Ray Ray are a rarity at the NFL level--that is players that make BANK--and still have the passion to play the game. Most players go through the motion and still make the money--which makes most of us sick to our stomachs....
I'd rather know Brutus Buckeye or even why Ohio State will get along just fine without Sweater Vest. Or why Michigan will end up 8-4 this year. Or why the Pac-16 will never work. Or why the SEC.......
You can keep going with college. After all, there are 120 Teams the last time I checked. The stories are endless. With the NFL--I watch for pure entertainment value. Saturday's anymore is where my passion truly is. The older I get, the more passionate I get for the collegiate game. I believe the NFL is simply for the rich and the YOUNG (under 30 crowd). They don't get what tradition and passion is all about.
Getting back to the topic at hand--as for Moore not being drafted in the 1st round--well, we'll see come April 2012.
And yeah--only Bungle Fans look forward to this time period. Good one!
---Thanks again, T!!!!
Also, JIM ROME must have read my first post in this thread because he said the same thing on his show today almost word for word. Especially the part about Andrew Luck and Kellen Moore and the draft.

25 of 30, 358 yards passing, 4 TDs--against a decent team.
That's two games in a row that Mr. Moore has passed for over 80%.
