thanking Carson Palmer  (Login LoyaltyClause)

its funny seeing all the credit going to Mikey for getting so much for Carson...

rather than Carson should be getting all the thanks, when Mikey sat on his azz...Carson & his agent did all the work behind this trade, NO DOUBT IN MY MIND.

add in a little bit of luck w/ Hue being the coach of the team w/ the only serious QB issues, #1, PLUS Al Davis dying #2 and wham bam put it in a can and #9 found his opportunity...good for him, more luck for mikey...he's been getting a lot lately!

in my mind what Palmer did starting in January set off a series of events where Marvin & Mikey were threatened to a point that THINGS HAD TO CHANGE...i mean 7 straight black-outs? Marvin even mentioned Carson in his last press conference...he REALLY pissed off the organization...

and like doc points out in his article todhttp://cincinnati.com/blogs/daugherty/2011/10/18/the-morning-line-1018-2/ "Palmer held up a mirror to this organization. The organization, as it always does, turned the mirror back on its accuser."

I wish one of the bungs best QBs in history the best of luck out there & hope he wins a playoff game...esp. against the bungs...would be the icing on the the cake and he deserves it...

I completely agree.

I was always caught in the middle with CP, not thinking he was God's-quarterback-brought-to-earth-for-us-unappreciative-peons as murf did, nor thinking that he was the complete bain of our existence that a lot of Bungle-marks thought he was (the nadir of the latter being booing CP when he broke a team record...lame). My biggest criticism of CP, in fact, was that he didn't do what he did this year two years sooner.

But at least he did it now rather than never. Whether or not the organization changes, at least they (looked to have) pulled off a trade that actually makes the franchise look good. That wouldn't have happened if he continued to shrug his shoulders and accepted the putrid existence that is plying one's trade for Mike Brown. Mike never would have initiated something like this on his own.

I am also in complete agreement,You can bet if the Raiders hadnt been desperate and in the position of making the play offs this year, this deal never happens.I sincerely hope that Carson Palmer wins a superbowl ring at mike clowns expense.
Nothing would make me happier that to see Carson and the Raiders eliminate the clown in a playoff game and shove a football right up the clown's a$$. I wish Carson Palmer all the success in the world,I wish mike clown dead.

I havent been a Carson fan for awhile.

Too many pick-6's and underthrown balls for me to think otherwise.

Like I said, I hate the Hole, but I give him credit. He waited until someone gave the farm.
Whether its luck or otherwise (I think he knew someone would cave - granted not 2 first rounders - but I think he knew either the Phins, the Saebags or someone would offer a first rounder).

"Good" players never sit for very long on the sidelines.

Give Carson some time to learn and get some reps with the offense and you will see what I have been saying for years.

He got too much blame in Cincy.
I watched Sanchez get blamed last night.
He is not that good of a qb, but when the wideout stops on a route, that is not the qb's fault.
When a qb can't trust the people he is throwing to, it makes for a very bad situation.

As I have stated before...name the weapons Carson had and then explain their current status.

Regardless of who orchestrated the deal it is a very good move for the Bengals, I'm glad to see mike budge for once

Really curious to see if Carson has anything left in the tank and if his struggles were the result of Brats offense, Chads antics or just being bungleized

Bengals Nation should be thankful to Carson. Carson is most responsible for the 2005 division title and their promising team in 2006. Then once again, Carson lands them a kidnapper's ransom with this last deal.

I know that some of you dislike Carson either for his play, the fact that he never won a playoff game, for his retirement/holdout, or all of the above, but he has clearly done more good for the MB organization than anyone since...ummm...maybe Paul Brown.

I liked Palmer to a point. He had a good arm but was really a pocket quarterback. It's amazing he did as well as he did here for he didn't always have the protection he needed and since he wasn't a great scrambler/runner took some serious hits and sufferred some serious injuries as a result. Brown liked the cowbell type quarterback but to survive in the Bengals system you also had to be a very good athlete. Akali Smith was a good athlete but couldn't throw. Palmer could throw but as stated wasn't as good an athlete. I hope he does well out there and gets the protection he didn't get here.

mikey deserves NO CREDIT...in fact i bet he turned down the raiders once or twice until somebody in that organization who has half of a brain finally stood up and said "C'MON! THIS COULD BE TWO FIRST ROUNDERS!!!" then mikey shrugged, cried, and went home in his lumina...

agree with murf regarding his play, hope he can prove some mbs'ers and homers how good he really is when leaving this organization (and the bungs crappy medical staff)...dude got no credit for being a huge part of the '05 and '09 teams...'05 could completely rest on his shoulders, the numbers he put up were OUTSTANDING.

'05 was definitely his finest hour. Name another player on that team that was as valuable. Who was carrying the team, the defense?

That said, I never bought the long-lobbied principle of "he was never the same after the Kimo hit." I maintain it wasn't that game that "broke him," but rather the succession of stomach punches in 2006 where he did EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO only to have special teams and defense f*(* it up on him repeatedly. The moment that Shayne Graham torpedoed that kick vs. Pittsburgh on Dec. 31, 2006, I think Palmer started to mentally process just what organization he was playing for and I don't think he was ever the same after that.

Of course, his subsequent arm troubles didn't help either, but there have been QBs with arms weaker/equivalent to what Palmer even has now that were fine. We'll see if his career goes back upwards but he's not exactly advancing to a sterling organization in its own right.

Carson was excellent again in 2006 so I never bought the "Kimo hit" theory either. Carson was tougher and arguably better against a tougher schedule in 2006. The choking down the stretch can be attributed to the special teams (in particular the kicking game) and then in week 17 I believe that the Steelers were simply better and even then Graham had a chance to win that game.

A lot of you forget that the Bengals should have made the playoffs in 2006. The Bengals beat the Bucs that year but the NFL officiating decided to get involved and it ended up giving the Bucs the game.

Justin Smith sacked Gradkowski on a clean hit, he fumbled, the Bengals recovered and all they had to do was run out the clock. Instead, a B.S roughing the passer penalty gave the Bucs 15 yards and put them in field goal range.

If it was any other team, the penalty doesn't get called. It was a horrible call, no other team has to put up with more blown calls that go against them then Cincy.

The Bengals would have finished 9 and 7 instead of 8 and 8. I also think it would have taken some pressure of the team to win and they may have stolen another game too.

I liked Carson but didn't like he never tried to gain the extra yard by getting out of the pocket. He didn't have the toughness that Aaron Rodgers or Bret Favre possess and when the pocket broke down he went down, instead of taking off and gaining the extra two or three yards.

That yardage adds up over time and keep more drives alive. My real only complaint is that he played it too safely.
