Murph says Bengals are headed in the right direction... but team is young
Mike Brown says you don't build through free agency you build through the draft.
Question is: Bengals draft has always been a question/issue regarding talent, but what about the guys that do make it and are good draft picks? Bengals organization is difficult to work for, people hit their first veteran contract and what do they do? How do the bengals rate in extending/capturing draft picks that make the team into their second NFL contract? I look at the team and it seems like they are never "old" they are always young...I wonder if we will ever build through the draft for the Bengals or if we are just building free agents?
challenge you'd like to take on or just too much?
"Well, it ain't braggin' if it's true
Yes sir, yes sir
It ain't braggin' if it's true
Muhammad Ali said that
Back when he was a young man
Back when he was Cassius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
And left his brain inside the ring"

That's a good question, Belko. I remember back when Forrest Gregg was head coach. After his first season, he said they needed to hang on to more of their 2-3-4-year players and stop continually replacing them with rookies. Wanted more experience on the team. All these years later, the Bungs are perennially one of the youngest teams again. You're right.
Somebody must have assembled the data already. It would be a big job to start from scratch. I'll see what I can find. Anybody else know?
What we're looking for is average length of time on team for drafted players. There should also be a sensible way to deal with marginal guys who bounce on and off the roster.
