#1 reason for Bungles' f*ckup

"...on how we screw this up?"
Yes. Reaching on the 2nd pick in the 1st round. I wouldn't doubt Mikey Drafting a "project" today since he's the little Maverick that he is.

Anything can happen. The mocks are all over the place for the Bungs. Would still love to see them take an offensive lineman and Michael Floyd. Just for entertainment purposes as Murf goes into full-blown bipolar hysteria.
CB Dre Kirkpatric would be nice, too.

"Trent Richardson it is. Was Jim Brown pulling everyone's leg when he said this guy was "ordinary"?"
No. Not ordinary. Going up against SEC's Defenses, the guy was unstoppable. Was one of the main guys responsible for the Championship for Alabama.
No, not a joke--and definitely not ordinary.

Hoping for DeCastro and Cordy Glenn. As the NFL moves to a pass dominated offense, defense will get lighter and faster. All the more reason to buck the trend and go power running.

Maybe you're right, AMM, but I haven't felt so good about a Bungs pick since Jermaine Gresham. And San Diego did not take DeCastro like a lot of mocks predicted. I'm with Draw. Would love to see the Bungs get him.

Mike Brown, you dog! Traded the chance to get DeCastro to New England. Get an extra 3rd rounder. Well, the intrigue will last through almost the end of the 1st round.

Kirkpatrick was arrested on possession charges in January btw, so at least with Simspon gone the other knuckleheads in the locker room will have a new supplier.
Anyone else think Cleveland has had a terrible draft? Richardson better be a top flight back on the level of MJD or this draft has gotten off to a rough start for them. I'm OK with Weeden but think they could have had him lower.

I have no problem with this trade.
Obviously the guard is not rated to be that great or he would be gone.
You are looking at second round talent from this point on and with Bell and Wharton inked there is no reason to draft a back up guard right now.
Hightower is solid and we don't know if Rey is going to be suspended for his bar fight and Moch and Muckelroy are hyped by the staff but we have not seen them yet.
Bottom line, I will take the extra picks instead of over reaching for a lineman.

Poor decision - the bungs could have used that DE from Syracuse. Like pitching in baseball you can't get enough good DL's. I don't think Mikey has a grasp of the game.

I never said he was going to be a bad player..but to win in the NFL you need play makers.
The Bengals have 2 guys with 200 snaps in the league that will be playing guard plus they have Bolin who played well last year as a rookie on both sides of the line.
Now, NewEngland just fuched up my night by taking Hightower, but I still like the trade.

DeCastro, may you spend your career clobbering the Bengals. You see, we had no interest whatsoever in an OG. Er, a, that is one Mike would have to pay.
The season is 4 months away and I'm already fed up with the 3 Ring Bengal Circus...

I think I just heard Mike Zimmer screaming in pain. I don't think he likes Maualuga much anyway but to watch the Patriots pluck Jonathon Fanena then maneuver ahead of the Bungs and steal Hightower has to hurt.
Hell the entire coaching staff might be passed out in the war room right now. Zeitler was drafted by the guy in charge of wiping spit off the drinking fountains because he was the only one in there (beside the hole) that was conscious.

This reminds me of the time they traded back to get Christina Perry INSTEAD of Stephen Jackson. They didn't need an all-around back, just a third down back, so why not get the extra pick?
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Take the best player. Period. Not the one you think fits your system or need, because systems and needs change but the need for talent is always there.

Pick Analysis: Mayock's take: "This is a solid pick. I don't care if it's not popular, this is a plug-and-play guard. Wisconsin offensive linemen are always well coached. The Bengals could use the help up front, and this kid will provide it. He can play zone and man. He's an immediate starter. Well done."

Hobson on Zeitler

Here you go:
And long-time Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander all but anointed Zeitler the starting right guard when ask if he'd start: "That's the definition of a first-round pick...Every one I've had has."
Alexander was referring to his first round-picks since he became the line coach in 1995: Right tackle Willie Anderson in 1996, left tackle Levi Jones in 2002, and right tackle Andre Smith in 2009. It's the first time the Bengals have ever taken a guard in the first round, but Alexander compared the 6-3, 315-pound Zeitler to the best of his guards.
"He's as tough as (Matt) O'Dwyer, as smart as (Mike) Goff, as tenacious as Nate (Livings)," Alexander said. "I haven't really had anyone quite like him. He's unique."
He's also brilliant. As well as being able to back up at center, he reportedly had a 40 (out of 50) on the Wonderlic test at the combine and he said Thursday night he had more than a 3.0 grade point average in college as well as finishing in the top 20 of his high school class in Lutheran High School in Wisconsin.

I am actually pleased with what they did in the first round.
Did I want De Castro more? Of course.
But not that much more. He is a freaking guard. LOL
We picked up the #3 rated Guard in the country and the kid can also back-up center. Good value there. We pluck another draft pick in a decently rich draft.
I think they drugged Mikey and put him in the Dungeon for the weekend.
No complaints.
