Pick 116 is a tight end. Charles Orson from Georgia. A blocker who can catch some short passes for you. Complement for Gresham. Works for me.

I saw some good tape. We need that.

But these next 3 are important. If they unearth ONE baller here, I'll be thrilled.

Mikey is cleverer than you think.

5th round -- CB, WR, FS.

The safety, George Iloka, sounds like maybe he's a good pick: 6'4", 255, and "possesses all of the physical tools to develop into a frontline playmaker". For a 5th rounder, not bad.

Daniel "Boom" Herron

BOOM!

Doesnt fumble much.
Great between the tackles.
Can block.
Understands protections.

No home run ability, but great value in the 6th.

Damn, I might give Marvin an "A" for the draft today.
Just solid picks. Great value all around.

Herron?

Only stupid Mike Brown would want Bonehead Herron. Most overrated junk pick of the draft.

Iloki sounds like he's built like David Fulcher. Maybe Belko can tell us more about him.

OVERRATED? LOL. Its the 6th round.

I know every person points to Tom Brady as a 6th rounder, but this is the round you get depth and practice squad folks. 95% of picks here are to provide depth for the team.

Boom has been productive and he is a hard worker.

Uhhhhh,

He sold his jersey and cleats to someone for some cash.
He also got paid an extra $293 at a Summer Job than he was supposed to.

Yeah, real bad seed there. LOL

You are a fukking retard if you think that is grounds for never drafting someone, much less in the 6th round.

Didn't you like the AJ Green pick last year, Falcon?
He also sold his jersey too. Way to be a hypocrit, sh!thead.

It may just be a 6th round pick, but don't waste it. Herron was a waste pick. He would have went undrafted. I don't give a sh*t about grades, that was an "OSU" pick.

The better gamble, if they really wanted him, would be to take a gamble on an actual project then grab him later. If filling the roster is the argument why not just do that after the draft.

"He would have went undrafted."

Huh?

What exactly about Herron is it that you dont like at the 6th round?

Was there someone else you wanted that was an awesome 6th rounder?
The only other player I would have wanted there was Kellen Moore.

Speaking of Kellen Moore, what a perfect backup for Andy Dalton. Was he actually available in the 6th round?!

You're proof that lawyers....

No score for this post
April 28 2012, 5:33 PM

....don't have to always be intelligent. I know you passed the bar exam--but still--you must have had a couple of your OSU Buddies in your dorm room and you were taking the test with the Mission Impossible "eyeglasses" and earpiece.

THEY TOLD YOU ALL THE ANSWERS--AND IT WAS THE 6TH TIME YOU TOOK THE EXAM!!!!

Now, seriously:

"Yeah, real bad seed there. LOL"

IT SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT THE CHARACTER OF THE PLAYER YOU ARE GETTING. THIS ISN'T BREAKING CURFEW. THIS IS SELLING ALL YOUR SOUVENIRS IN COLLEGIATE BALL FOR INK. I CAN'T SEE WHY YOU WOULDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT.

You only get one Rose Bowl Ring in your college career. You should treasure that. Obviously these guys took that for granted.

BUT WE'VE ALREADY HAD THIS ARGUMENT.

If you want to talk about the player on the field, I still have an issue with it. Herron, it seems, in big games, disappeared. Sure against Indiana or Akron, he had 175 yards on the ground. Against Wisconsin and Penn State or Bowl Games? WHERE IN THE HELL DID HE GO?!?!!??!?!??

Also, I have one more problem. Herron's overall attitude ON AND OFF THE FIELD. It seemed that his attitude was this:

I'M GOING TO THE NFL ONE DAY--SO NONE OF THIS MATTERS.

Please tell me you didn't feel the same way. Herron is a 1st round shoulda, coulda, woulda--but he seemed that he felt that he was too far above it.

Tell me I'm wrong--and please--let some non-homer tell me I'm wrong.

Oh yeah--one more thing. You asked "what do you want with a 6th round pick?".....the answer is NOT HERRON. DEFINITELY NOT HERRON. Somebody mentioned Kellen Moore. You know Moore's not going to get in trouble. Not have character question marks. And he would have been the perfect backup or even starter if something happens to Redhead.

Stupid f*cking Mikey and stupid f*cking Bronco. You would make a great team lawyer, dude.

I think it was a very solid draft based on the spots they filled.

Needed a guard...got a solid player
Needed a corner..got a potential great player
Needed a TE..don't know much about him
Needed a WR..got 2 very good ones

The DT kind of made me think for a minute.
Broyles still on the board and pass him up, I believe Broyles is going to be a 10 year productive pro.
Miller was passed up several times.

Not sure about Heron, but as Bronco said, it is the 6th round.
If you find a gem great, but for the most part practice player or special teams.
Marvin got his favorite backfield (sigh), slow between the tackles.
Scott has speed...then we have several plowboys.
Leanord is not even in the conversation because he is productive but never gets enough touches for some odd reason.
Wanted a homerun type with good hands to spread the field.

No excuses this year for Marvin.
Win..the roster has talent.

Falc,

He didn't sell a Rose Bowl ring. Not sure where you are getting this.
You are either lying or you are ignorant on this issue. Which one is it?

Herron sold his uniform and some cleats.
Same thing AJ Green did. Do you think AJ was a bad pick?
Riiiight...

Draft

I looked at various websites that rated the draft and it seems to be a consensus that they all ranked the Bengals draft an A. Now it is up to the coaches to do their job.

Day three of the draft can only be graded out in three or four years...like someone said, if they get one stud out of those picks (say, Houshmandzedeh over a decade ago) then day 3 is an absolute success. I will say that Bronco marginalizes this day a bit (teams like the Steelers that have seemingly unlimited depth do well on day three while teams with no depth like the Redskins or Browns do not), but this is depth and diamond in the rough day. Ideally guys who will be on the roster for three or four years, but you do get the occasional Housh in this spot.

With that said, day 1 I've been loud and clear that I was not a fan of, but opinions clearly differ anywhere from "this was a great first round" to "this was a horrible first round." I'm somewhere in between but leaning negative with a slow corner and a low second round value guard being taken when they could have had the next Steve Hutchinson or Alan Faneca instead.

Day 2 I LOVED. Devon Still from Penn State was one of the top 5 "best" picks in the draft (Steelers getting DeCastro, Chargers getting Ingram were in my opinion the two 'best' picks...Still to the Bungs is IMO the third 'best' pick). Sanu at WR I also see fitting in here and hopefully excelling in this offense to compliment AJ Green. Brandon Thompson BETTER be an impact player considering that he is our 'compensation' for giving Pittsburgh DeCastro.

Day 3 is day 3. Three picks in round 5 and the experts say good value so hopefully that is the case. And I have no problem with Herron in round 6. I don't see him as NFL material personally but this is one guy that the Bungles thin scouting staff has probably seen quite a bit and they may know a little more about him. I don't see him as a character issue.

I marginalize Day 3 because out of all the teams in the NFL, what do you think the percentage of starters are that come from the 6th and 7th round?

I will make a guess that it is 5%.

Cue Psychostats for the answer.
