I heard Leaf's name mentioned during a talk show on ESPN and they discussed his burglary of pain killers and the subsequent sentencing. Now Mikey liked Leaf and actually would have drafted him if he could. I wonder what if that happened - what kind of a career would he have had here? That was back in 1998 and the bungs were in their glory years in terms of ineptness. After a few (many) games of getting beaten up I wonder how all that would have turned out?

Leaf makes Akili look like a rocket scientist. Scenario in Ciny would be same as San Diego. The guy has an IQ of a wet rug. Had his hand held his entrie college career. Probably had some really terrible examples set for him in childhood.

We all would have said that Mikey-Boy ruined a "can't miss" prospect.

Considering that the Bungs could actually pass during that era (Blake and Esiason both had good years around that time and even Neil O'Donnell had an efficient season throwing to Pickins and Scott) so that actually would have been more telling of Leaf's abilities. He may have been slightly better than Klingler/Akilli, but that isn't saying much.

I am not sure that you can find anyone who sucked as bad as Akili.

Some qb's were bad b/c they had no help around them, but Akili was just flat out awful.

David Klingler was pretty bad - maybe worse than Akili but then we had Dave Shula as a coach. As bad as the bungs were back in 1998 or thereabouts I bet if we drafted Payton Manning he would wind up bad also with the putrid line we had then he would have gotten beaten up as he (Manning) was not known as a scrambler.
