| I never understood why a player would need an agent. I know players have a cake collegiate schedule or never went at all--but really, how hard could it be if you even halfway paid attention in business management classes.
If I were a player, the only thing I would do is bring a lawyer to the contract negotiations--so he could be my 2nd pair of eyes.
WTF am I missing with these MF'ing primadonna agents??!?!?!?!?!?

There is a perception that the agents know the ins-and-outs of the negotiation process. With the wage scale, that is of less importance for a first-year player.
I would want a lawyer that has experience in NFL deals, so he/she would know the clauses that would screw me later. An average lawyer may not appreciate this. For your second contract you would want someone with experience to tell you what you could get and do the dog and pony show. Most agents are little more than lawyers with this type of experience.
There are 10 types of people in this world, those who undertsand binary, and those who do not. |
