Whelp--week 1 is upon us. And already Alabama has Michigan scheduled. Granted, it's at home (Tuscaloosa)--but still--they are preparing themselves for another National Championship run.

Can they make it 3 in a row????

Meanwhile teams like Ohio State have Miami of F*cking Ohio Chumps as their starting game. This doesn't prepare you for sh*t. And in big games like Michigan and Wisconsin--it's choke time.

But I already like Urban's war chant "YOU GOT SOME 'JUICE'"?!??!?? Of course, this could backfire if his players are going all Barroid Bonds on you. Catch my drift??? LOL

BTW--Michigan scares me bad. I'm peeing down my leg thinking about playing them. Seriously.

Also BTW--USC DON'T F*CKING HURT YOURSELVES ON HAWAII. I SWEAR IF THE F*CKING RAINBOWS PULL OFF THE UPSET (THEY WON'T--I'M THINKING BARKLEY MAY SET THE NCAA FOR PASSING TDS IN A SINGLE GAME)--I'M GOING TO SH*T MY PANTS. Teams perform differently when:

1. They are being overlooked/underestimated

2. This is Hawaii's National Championship

3. The Upset Warning Alarms are chiming

Some of these 1st games are just downright embarrassing. LSU playing North Texas? Arkansas playing Jacksonville State? Florida State playing Murray State (who?) to name just a few. I know there's no preseason in CFB but still. Jesus. You guys make sure a gurney isn't awaiting you after the game either. If you break a sweat, you guys are sponsored by Gatorade--so that will help....

It's just chatter--you boys can chime in. Warning--NO POLITICS BY EITHER SIDE--OR I WILL EMBARRASS YOU (of course I've set myself up here for the Mitt B*tchney or Osh*tba comments).

Michigan is playing Bama at Jerry world.... I am in Dallas right now. its a 50/50 split of tickets.

scUM does not scare me one bit. We almost beat them with that lame azz team we fielded last year.... We have no bowl game....trust me ,.that is our bowl game and Urban will NOT lose to Michigan. I would not want to be a player if they do.

Bama playing Meatchicken is like OSU playing Miami.

OSU's bowl game is mid November and there is nothing the NCAA can do about it. happy.gif

Yep....Alabama plays MeatChicken in Texas. Gee, I wonder how much Jer-Jer paid for that one.

Sure Alabama may play in Dallas--but basically that is a home game for 'Bama, since it's in the South/closer to Tuscaloosa....

I stand corrected.

One problem with USC

No score for this post
August 29 2012, 5:56 PM

Isn't Kiffin the big loud mouthed idiot still the coach?

I still like them though--only because they have some real experience--especially on offense. Hard to go against Matt Barkley. He could have came out last year. Barkley's very, very underrated.

However, I think they stumble. Maybe twice. I don't know why. Coaching? Who knows.

I like Alabama--especially along the lines (you know--the important stuff that Mike Brown forgets as an owner). They are huge--and it's going to matter in big games.

I know one thing--it will NOT be an LSU Alabama repeat. There are too many things against that repeat. The Universe doesn't align like that very often.

*shrug*--but unfortanately for the rest of the country--I do believe that it could be 2 SEC Teams again. The Conference is just that good.

One more thing--there are other coaches elsewhere in the country. Not every good coach is in the SEC anymore. Sure they can recruit like a MF'er....but Kelly's a damned good coach. We already know what Meyer can do...I like what I see from that dumba$$ in Michigan unfortunately. Wisconsin and Nebraska have good coaches.

Stoops is a decent coach even though he catches a bad case of "John Cooperitis" in big games.

And Texas has a decent coach.

Can Charlie Weiss build a program at Kansas--or is he an overblown fatazz that had it good and never should have left Belicheck.

I'm rambling--and avoiding the question on purpose, Bronco. LOL

I'll answer--I like your picks. But picking #1 vs. #2 as a National Championship is just too easy. Oklahoma has an easy road so does USC.

I'm going to pick USC vs. Oklahoma to begin with--just for the hell of it.

That guy is a beast. He scares the pee outta me. September 29th could be the longest day Ohio State Fans have seen in a long time.

The last time I saw a guy leap over a guy like that--I was about 8 years old. This f*cking crazy f*cker in high school football. Played for Northridge. RB named Howard. I will never forget it. Just amazing stuff. Hopefully they were sweating if they weren't wearing cups. wink.gif

BTW--Michigan is in big trouble tomorrow. They suspended their RB for tomorrow's game. I'll bet they'll wonder where their running game went. I'll say Alabama by 20.

Also, false alarm. Nothing to see here. Go about your business. There will be one upset tomorrow though. I'm thinking the Auburn Game is the most promising.

What I get sick of is the "SEC, SEC, SEC" chant. Just because the SEC has won the NCG since the Stone Age gives them no right to be a bunch of arrogant pr!cks, but then, who's gonna stop them?

I think Tressel was on the right track. He eventually gave OSU the first win against an SEC team in 9 tries. Of course, technically with the scandal OSU is still winless against the SEC. Maybe that is what got Tressel fired. He just came to close to beating an SEC team in the NCG and the powers that be, who are all SEC fans, gave him the boot.

Tressel ball is finally OVER. although the score indicated otherwise in the 1st qtr. Love the step on the neck mentaility Meyer displayed and I hope he continues. Do not let up for 60 min.

ND looked really good as well. UF ...yikes.

scUM - we all knew that train wreck was coming... this game will hurt them more than just rankings...it will hurt recruiting for the and the reast of the BIG...maybe not so much for tOSU because we Urban and he will looked upon as SEC like..

Oregon unis were cool last night.

I will tell you one thing - We just got cable and it did not come with BIG network so I went out in search of Buckeye Bar - found one in Redondo Beach called "the Rocks" beautiful view of the ocean while watching the game along with 30 or so other Bucks....pretty cool. Even the bar staff was wearing Bucks gear. Spent $60 on food and beer....so I doubt that will become ritual...just for non televised games. Bronco - you may be familiar with the place.

There are over 8 OSU LA bars here....pretty amazing.

Who should have been my Offender of the Weak? Pittsburgh. But they got their azzes handed to them by Tress' ole program--the Penguins of Youngstown State. So, I guess you can't be an Offender when you f*cking get killed. Dave Wanndstat--where the f*ck are you?!?!?!?!?!?

Just catching up on this thread's comments, and chuckled at Falc's torment about Big 10 interpretations from Michigan being totally humiliated. It's obviously more MAC-like or Notre Dame-like than a Top Tier program, yet again.

I noticed that Wisconsin and Michigan State didn't exactly dominate at home against supposedly lesser opponents. I grew up a Big 10 defender, but opening week suggests that, once again, the SEC is in a different and far superior class.

But the bowl record says it all anyways. BCS bowls and Capital One (former Citrus Bowls) and the Outback Bowl tie ins have pitted quite a few Big Ten/SEC games over the years.

Also a good weekend to be from Ohio. As awful as our two NFL franchises are, OU over Penn State and YSU over Pitt. LOL at both!

In all honesty Penn State is probably on par with OU this season. OU is a good MAC team and PSU will be lower middle of the pack Big Ten. Pitt losing to YSU is a embarrassment for them. Especially as they are heading to the ACC next year.

The entire SEC is not great.

3 teams might be elite at this moment in time.
I will never understand the obsession with a Conference.
A match up between the best team in football vs a second tier team is just that.
2 teams that play each other and the team that has better match ups, and executes...wins.
It has nothing to do with what league they are in or what part of the country they are in.
Great Athletes and Excellent coaching...not league and geography.

I agree with the SEC depth being overrated. That league has some AWESOME teams at the top, especially in the West, that no one in the Big Ten would have any shot at beating in 2012. But just look at any of the Big SEC West schools (Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas). The only losable games for any of them is vs eachother and a big game or two ('Bama vs Michigan, which Bama won, and Auburn vs Clemson, which Clemson won). And considering that Auburn is probably a whole step lower than the other three, it probably goes "big three, then Auburn, then A&M. After that the only other quality school in the entire SEC is Georgia right now. Florida will be better than last year but is not a top team yet. Tennessee could be better. South Carolina IMO not a top 10 team and will lose a questionable game or two. Etc.

Credit to Alabama or LSU, whoever emerges, for winning their big head to head games. But the teams at the bottom of their schedules would be automatic wins for the top and middle teams in any of the BCS conferences and Notre Dame. Hell, if Notre Dame played 'Bama's schedule they would go 8-4. Not 11-1 or 12-0, but being relatively mediocre they would be a shoe-in for 8-4, while their current schedule has so many 'losable' games that they realistically could finish anywhere from 5-7 to 10-2.

Or is USC overrated??? Anyways--upset alerts are sounding off in this game.

Oh yeah--Offender of the Weak Award this weekend goes to the next chump playing Savannah State (man they really needed a payoff this year huh?)--Florida State. That sh*t just shouldn't be allowed.

I say we make a rule next year--anybody who plays Savie State gets dropped in the BCS Standings. You're auto-out. Nope. You barely get the "Continental Tire" Bowl.

My Honorable Mention for the 'Weak Award? Has to go to VIRGINIA GD TECH for playing Austin Peay. No wonder why Va Tech isn't prepared to play in big games.

Also--Bronco--you were right. Michigan doesn't scare me at all. I think it's remarkable how the sidelines respond to Urban Meyer's presence. It's like a "whatever you say I can do, coach" attitude. Just the opposite of what you saw in the previous 3-5 years.

And you know what? Penn State could have fixed this. They made the bed they are laying in. All they had to do was fire Paterno's azz when I told them or sooner.

They should have gave him the ULTIMATUM--either fire Sandusky--or fire yourself. A bunch of dumbazzes.

Today--I used my 'Damus vision. The NCAA isn't going to like this either. I foreseen a Happy Valley Stadium with about 80,000 missing in attendance. That will be a major catastrophe in the world of collegiate sports, folks.

SAD Valley is going to be a f*cking graveyard in about 3-5 years...and that's going to be the sadest thing since the NCAA gave SMU the Death Sentence.

Even more SAD?!?!??!?!? Penn State has exactly ONE RECRUIT that has committed. That is like UConn or Utah State-like. Not Penn State. Goes right along with my parity on the "Recruit Phonecalling". Who would commit? What does this say about a student athlete for football that would commit to Prison State right now?

Speaking of "Death Sentences"--I've always wondered ONE THING. How did the U (Miami) avoid the Death Penalty!??!?!?!?!?!?!? Back in Jimmy Johnson's Reign (or thereafter), they should have received it. Big time. Hookers, dope, thugs?!??!?!?!? OHHHHH MY!!!!! HOW?!?!?!?!?!? HOW THE HELL NOT?!??!??!?!? I know those cheaters were sanctioned--but they should have received the Death.

What sucks is we are looking at yet another year of a media Champion.

Bama simply is good.
LSU simply is good.
USC simply is good.

Then you have a bunch of teams that could (depending on luck) make some noise.
But if USC runs the table and the winner of the Bama LSU game runs the table, that is your national title and nobody has a chance of playing them or getting in.

Sad that a great sport is controlled by media clowns that don't play.

Massachusetts at No. 17 Michigan -- Wanna see how Meatchicken rises 2 points in the rankings?
Idaho at No. 3 LSU -- Here's your $500,000 for playing us, Vandals. Take your Benjamin Beatdowns and git!!!!!!

South Carolina State at No. 24 Arizona -- WEAK.

If you want a cupcake--DO NOT--I repeat--DO NOT Schedule University of Louisiana Monroe.

Arkansas found that out the hard way.

That should have been one of my Offender of the Weak's--but Monroe pulled off the upset. Anybody see this game? Especially the last 3 quarters?

ULM knocked out Wilson (Arkansas' Starting QB) and pandemonium ensued.

The game went into OT. Arkansas missed their FG. ULM took over. They scored in 3 plays. WTF?!?!?!??!

Talk about small programs showing up like it's their National Championship? The sad thing? The game was in Little Rock.

Good lord. Should make a 'Hogs Fan puke Red and White.

We should lose to MSU and perhaps Nebraska and maybe (GULP) scUM.

Braxton dominates when he wants to and then proceeds to take 4-5 series off. Strange.

Nothing like being a huge dog on the road and getting a gift tied at 28 with 4 minutes left and being too scared to win the game.
Then what on earth was the safety doing?

Miller is like Golston...
Athletes, but not qb's.

Another year of college football and yet another year of Vtech being over ranked and Vtech losing to a bad football team.

Notre Dame is joining the ACC and has agreed to play 5 ACC football games...

OK--my Offender of the Weak is:

ALABAMA.

Their azz-handing of Florida Atlantic is going to be disgusting. I'll say 58-3.

Special Mentions:

Nebraska vs. Idaho State (when you don't even know the school's mascot you're playing, you get mentioned.....)

Mississippi State vs. South Alabama (who?????)

Michigan State vs. Eastern Michigan (Christ)

Look, I know the Big 10 (12) like to play instate schools--but WTF?!?!?!??!?!? No other school other than Michigan is worth mentioning in the state. In Ohio, there's nobody but....same with Ne-f*cking-braska.

Play somebody within your own firepower. The NCAA has to step in a do something about this. Seriously.

One more thing that Murf is going to be proud of--I'm taking Notre Dame over the F*ckheads. I wish they would both die--but that unfortunately won't happen--so I'm pick TD Jesus. F*ck them--but beat GD Michigan. THANKS. Another thing--Notre Dame looks like a different team this year. They look nasty. It's about f*cking time. Maybe they just haven't played a decent team this year--but still--they have a different attitude than the last 10 years. Maybe they will start recruiting again?

I am not sold yet.
They have had the hardest schedule in football to start the season and even if they win tonight, they still have a hard way to go and that offense is not there yet and the defense is relying on true freshman to man corners at times and that scares me against a good offense.
I would feel better with Reese playing qb.

BTW
The big 10 better not ignore Purdue.

I believe you have Bama, then about 10 teams playing for second place.

I would simply love to see a rematch of Alabama and LSU in the NCG as well as for the next year, and the next year and the next year and watch the NCAA scramble around in a vain attmpt to find parity in college football once again.

As for USC, they lost to Stanford cause they don't want to be humilated by the SEC in the NCG. Now they will probably wind up in their own back yard playing the second best big 10 team in the Rose Bowl.....again.

Kelly must have heard me from Cincinnati when I screamed about as loud as a human can scream to get that fuching qb out of the game and put in a real qb that can throw the fuching football.

Irish defense is pretty good.
The front 7 even after losing a great player can play.

Notre Dame might be something special next year, and have a chance to make some noise this year.

Ohio State is just bad.
Watching them struggle at home against another weak team is alarming.

The Big joke has been this bad for years.
I had a guy tell me last night that the Big 10 was the second football confr. behind the PAc 12 over the past 10 years.
He said the SEC was only 2 teams.

So I asked him to name 3 legit names in the big 10 over the past 10 years.
OHIO STATE/WISKEY.....still waiting on the dominate team over the past decade...lol

OSU did look better against MSU. Of course, most schools seem to this year when playing MSU. OSU had three turn overs and still won. LOL.

Nebraska is a different story. If OSU plays like that against them then lights out.

I just hope that OSU can begin to use their running backs effectively. If not, then their QB is going to get hurt very soon. What was puzzling against MSU is that OSU seemed to dominate the line but was averse to sending Hyde up the middle.

Texas A&M has scored two times on this drive only for the officials to place it back at the 1/2 yard line.

I already know what the ending of this game is going to be like (it's a setup)--Alabama by 3 in OT.

For whom the bell tolls

And the Death Toll has been tolling for hours in Alabama.

This makes things very interesting.

The weird thing about it is that analysts are initially stating that the 'Tide is out of the National Championship Contention.

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

WRONG ANSWER.

The Elephants are not out of it. Here's what could happen:

1. Oregon loses in either their annual Civil War or to Stanford in the PAC-12 Championship

2. K-State doesn't run the table--they lose to Oklahoma in the Big-12 Championship

3. Alabama wins their SEC Championship Game vs. Georgia.

Guess what?

The National Championship ends up being (lord forbid, Murf--LOL):

Notre Dame (if they run their schedule) vs. Alabama.

Jesus. I just ralphed considering it.

Plus, I don't think the pollsters are going to drop Alabama down that far in their rankings. I know it's not fair. I know people are going to be pissed off. But to be fair--I still think Alabama is the best team in the country. Everybody fears playing them. Everybody EXCEPT Texas A&M's QB. LOL

And they weren't the best team today--but the other 365 days of 2012 (remember Leap Year?)--they ARE.

I am watching Oregon right now.
Defense not that good against a bad offense with a back up qb.

Bama...
I believe they are the most sound team.
Need a ton of help..

Kstate..
Klien is like watching a faster Big Ben

Notre Dame
Strong run game with a great defense.
QB is getting better but still has a long way to go.
Still have to go to USC...

Johny Football is the real deal.
If Healthy will be the best college qb for the next 2-3 years.
Just wondering what kind of talent A&M will have to help him

Bearcats

Don't forget the Bearcats - one of the few things Cincy has going for it now. Beat Temple for a 7-2 record going into the Rutgers game next week. UC might get a BCS bowl this year if the cards fall right -if they beat Rutgers and Louisville loses (they had a key player go down today). That might salvage another dismal year for cincy sports.

Great to see..
Problem is the recruiting is going to go back to second and third tier talent because the conference is going to be garbage.

Your Irish have their golden egg handed to them by the Baylor Bears (who should be rated at least #20, IMO). They are handing Klein and company their azzes by a longshot.

You may have your shot at the Duckies. Good luck. Better be prepared to score more than they do.

Oh yeah--don't look to hurting them either. They are one of the deepest teams in the country. The next guy can step in and do almost a decent enough job as the starter.

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND.

Oh yeah--and you will beat USC. Barkley is out. I predict your LB'er will have a big day against the Condoms. wink.gif

Not going to get too pumped up until after they finish.
Barkley going out is a bitter sweet deal in my opinion.

He is a great qb that you don't have to face..but the back up has very little film to study and being at a school like USC, he can't be some scrub that can't play.
So that makes me a little nervous.

Bama is not that great, I would be more worried about playing Oregon.
Football is a game of match ups and Notre Dame can match up with Bama if and that is a big if they can beat Georgia again.

Just might be Notre Dame/Georgia

I do enjoy seeing the back on top for the first time in 18 years.
I was told they are irrelevant and will never be on top again.
A second tier team living in the past.

11-0 with 5 wins against top 25 teams with another top 25 team to end the season would place them in the company of the so called elite.

Yes. This could happen. It depends on who wins the SEC Championship Game now. Losing late screws you. That's why K-State is out. Oregon is out. Oregon may have screwed themselves real good losing to Stanford. Oregon still has to play Oregon State. This letdown could be very costly.

THEY MAY NOT EVEN BE IN THEIR OWN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

Who knew that the PAC-12 Conf Champ Game may be:

Stanford vs. UCLA

I'm pretty sure we all thought it would be:

Oregon vs. USC.

Just a weird year of NCAA Football.

BTW--the BCS just saved itself again by the top 2 teams losing. Now there isn't a controversy. I would swear the BCS sets that up like the Mafia.

Still don't trust the qb in the biggest game since Lou left.
The few good plays a game that you see on ESPN over shadow the many bad snaps, but the defense is pretty good.
8 touchdowns all season..11 games in college football and have only give up 8 touchdowns the entire season, that is something special.

Love hearing the haters make sh!t up.

But like I said, they have done nothing yet...
Have to take care of USC, with or without Barkley that game scares me.

Think about this for a second. Ohio State isn't trouble (just consider it momentarily)--they win out. Notre Dame wins out.

Ohio State plays ND in the National Title Game.

That would f*cking rule. So much for the SEC being the faster guy argument.

But dammit. Rules are rules and ETHICS ARE ETHICS--right Tress? LOL

I think that Ohio State Irish match up would be a very good game.

The Irish have handled both passing and running qb's this year and the Buckeye defense would drive Gholston nuts.

Still believe the Irish can hang with Bama if they beat USC...big IF.

The Georgia Bama matchup is going to be the game of the year, IMO. SEC Championship.

I think they matchup fine. It's more even than you think.

The difference? Like in most games--Which QB f*cks up the least.

It could come down to who has the ball last. And I like Georgia in the Dome. It's going to be like a f*cking home game for them.

Funny to say this--but I don't think Alabama can handle the pressure. Weird. But soooooo 2012.

Bama lost a bunch of special players this year from last year.
They are not that great of team.
Solid, one of the best, but I don't think anyone is going to talk about this team 10 years from now and name them as one of the best.

The best question of the decade is what if Notre Dame fails on saturday.

Who plays in the title game?

Who give s a **** who plays in the title game? It is all bullschit anyways, as the college system is the stupidest sports system ever devised, and no champion can ever truly call themselves the college football champs. Until we get a decent playoff system 'that makes sense' college football (which could be the funnest and most entertaining sport on the planet) will continue to lick balls. Seriously, what is the point of watching this garbage week in and week out when there is no 'payoff' at the end of the season. Just dumb.

My heavens how can a team fall that quickly?

It is hard to explain.
I follow teams like the Bengals and hope they win, but I follow Notre Dame like a religion...lol

Years ago lost a bet and had to get a tattoo..
I am not a tat kind of fella, but got ND on my leg because I will go to my grave as an Irish fan.
Good or bad..still a fan.

I take the heat from the haters.
I had to watch the bad hires of Davies/Willingham destroy a program listen to the haters telling me how Notre Dame would never be relevant again.

So yes, it is fun to watch the Irish return to the top.
My phone blew up last night and continues to keep buzzing as I sit here..lol

One of best friends is a huge Bama fan..hoping on an Irish/Bama battle.

Plus Mark May might go on suicide watch if Notre Dame wins...

The SEC is way over hyped this year.

Great league, hands down better than any other league in college football, but just because you have 5 or 6 solid teams in one league, does not automaticaly make them the best teams in football.

They all are good football teams, but everyone of them can be knocked off as we have seen.

Oregon/Stanford/Notre Dame/Oklahoma/Kansas st/Ohio State
Any of these teams can match up and play against any team from the SEC.

That being said, all we can do is sit back and see what happens.
