The Reds and Saint Louis, it's like watching the same neighborhood bully beat up on the same kid year after year after year after year. It's like the movie going back to the future, only they don't go back to the future.

Suck does not describe the level of stench and refuse that was left on the field.

It's gonna be another long year gents.

Offensively the Reds are worse this year without Choo, and last year they were horrible at scoring runs. I predict Hamilton will reach base less that Drew Stubbs this year.

Firing Dusty was the best thing they could have done for that man.

It's going to be a long year - I see that. The best is yet to come in futility - wait till we get to the bungs.

"I predict Hamilton will reach base less that Drew Stubbs this year."

someone was predicting on ESPN Hamilton stealing 100 bases this year. I was wondering who this guy was, thinking Hamilton will get on base 100 times.

The Reds fired Dusty Baker (good), and then did abso-frickin-lutely nothing to improve their team. Sort of like the Bungs, they got worse by subtraction and had no additions worth mentioning.

They're putting their faith in Billy Hamilton, but a man can't steal first base. He's not gonna get on base enough to cause any havoc. The end of the Votto window will end with a whimper. In fact they should probably trade Votto for prospects this year while he's still worth quite a lot.

I fear that the Reds missed their opportunity last year by rolling into the season with Dusty Baker

hard to have real hope for Cincinnati teams even after game one lol

BTW I didn't watch the game but I heard the Superstar Joey Votta failed to hustle on several plays and cost them a run, if that is true that your best player is already being lazy then this season is going to be a huge failure

Maybe Votto is becoming "Redsalized" as a counterpart to being bungalized. If that happens then it could spread through the rest of the team like wildfire and the team might be 15 games out by July 4.

sky falling

No score for this post
April 1 2014, 6:01 PM

The sky is falling not because the Reds got bitchslapped by the Cards for the umpteenth time... it's because the Reds got worse this offseason. They lost their 2nd best hitter and replaced him in the lineup with a guy who is 99.9% likely to really struggle to get on base.

The Bengals in free agency lost Michael Johnson, who is a good player, and Andrew Hawkins, who is good for a few big plays per season, and Anthony Collins, who is a very good pass blocker. They signed basically nobody. So it's 99.9% the case that the Bengals also probably got worse this offseason, barring draft miracles.

Just you wait, you people will be sorry for talking about Joey Votto like this after he collects the most walks at the end of the year!

I've played a lot of ball, Votto is a professional hitter, he'll be fine. Hamilton concerns me. I see a 500 record, hope I'm wrong.

The Reds will probably take a step(s) backward this year adjusting to a new coach etc. There are plenty of holes on this team and I would not be surprised to see them in 4th behind Milwaukee who underachieved last year.

I think the late season collapse last year will carry over into this year and the Reds might get off to a real slow start. I think if they finish at .500 this year it will be a pretty good performance.

Vottos problem

Joey's problem is his, uh, workout regimen, nutritional eh, supplemation changed since he signed his big contract. Anyone catch my drift?

I remember after Ryan Braun got suspended he was asked if anyone talked to him or reached out to him and Braun said that Votto had. When asked by a reporter about the conversation, Joey adamantly denied speaking to him. LMAO.
