I guess since Giggles doesn't let rookies on the field anyway Mikey figures it's a good way to buy low.

This is in regards to the surgery Ross was already scheduled to get when the Bungs drafted him. The initial estimate of his recovery period was a tad too optimistic, it seems.

Anyway, I get your drift. It starts when he takes longer to heal than expected.

There is something sadly amusing about how these things tend to repeat themselves year after year. It almost wouldn't seem possible, but it is. It's always Groundhogs Day in Cincinnati.

Come on, LC. I totally expected you to bump this thread.

Ross has a brand new, completely fresh injury that he suffered in the last preseason game. Make that a "non-contact" injury. Not an ACL like they feared, but a left knee sprain. Bad enough to set him back for who knows how long.

LOL! beat me to it.

Can't believe this guy was drafted #9 overall. Can't believe, or Can believe that this ownership would make another mistake on a small speed WR. Does it not learn from its mistakes from P-Dub? Oh yeah...

On the Thursday before the Packers game, Week 3.

That’s going by Thursday’s injury report, which indicates that the Bengals won’t have rookie wide receiver John Ross after he apparently tweaked a knee in Thursday’s practice. It’s believed he’ll get an MRI, but he did walk in from practice on his own without a discernible limp. He was also limited Wednesday when he left practice sick.

Glass Joe

Why am I not shocked. However, I'm starting to understand how Mike Brown works. These "Glass Joe" kind of guys are CHEAP. Once you are up to sign the next contract, you "save money". Same with the thuggish type players. Nobody wants them, so you get them cheap.

Then when they don't work out, you draft/sign the next guy.

Easy Cheesy. You still have the sheep coming. So you have that working for you.

Then you give this lame "redeemer" excuse for you being cheap.

Am I on the mark?

Ross is one of the worst draft picks in Bungles History

and that's saying something!!!

In a year where they let their offensive line become one of the worst perhaps in NFL history... they go and spend a top ten draft pick on an injury prone gimmick "speed" guy that only Al Davis could truly love, with a quarterback who has terrible accuracy.

A player like Ross, even if he is frickin' healthy, is not the kind of receiver you pair with Andy Mediocre Dalton. To be a weapon in the NFL a guy like that has to be paired with a QB who can hit him in stride every time on every little pass route, so that he can turn on the jets. Dalton's best throws are when he hucks it up in the air to AJ Green in triple coverage and Green uses his huge frame and leaping ability and timing ability to still catch the friggin ball. A guy like Ross, if he's running a go route, you can't underthrow him cause he's too small to fight for the ball.

But on top of all that the utter stupidity lies in the decimated OL that couldn't afford to do nothing in this year's draft, and the fact this guy is made of the same goddamn glass that Eifert is made of.

Stupid, dumb, bungling draft pick.

I'm willing to give the Bungs credit here and there for their talent evaluation. I know... I know... but they did manage five straight playoff appearances, so they must have been doing something right.

The fact of the matter is, the Bungs do indeed have a good eye for wide receivers. Cody Core and Josh Malone are both excellent prospects with speed, they really are. And that's an important point, because it leads me back to the question of John Ross.

Why the heck did they reach on a smallish, banged-up wideout like Ross? They would have been better off reaching on the best offensive tackle, even if he was a late first round talent.

Thus I'm on the same page with you guys, even though I started off with some praise for the team.

LCD says, in a message that is causing an error message:

I read that Tyler I-hurt will miss another game tomorrow. LOL!

How many weeks will both Eifert and Ross be out at the same time?
