Don't really watch much soccer, but:

This would be pretty cool if it happened. This town needs something to cheer for and a team that's not a perennial disappointment. Hopefully these guys can show that they're not losers like the Reds and Bungs assuming all this comes to fruition.

If Sactown doesn't have MLS, then neither should the 'Nati.

We beat you on the Hispanic Margin by probably 10 to 1.

They are the real engine behind who gets what team in America. Or have you always wondered why San Antonio can support soccer but can't support an NFL Team?

I'll give you the real answer to the question of whether this is a good idea:

How many transplants (as in: not from Ohio) live in Cincinnati?

The higher the ratio, the better an idea it is. Sports is a religion and you buy into it as a kid. You grow up with your "favourite teams" and you never change them, even if you have no logical reason to be a fan of that team anymore.

If you have a ton of transplants who love living in Cincinnati but couldn't bear to emotionally part with their childhood favourite teams, the MLS team will become their "Cincinnati team" if you market it right.

Year one was boffo for United here.....mind you the Thrashers had good attendance in year 1 also and we saw how that turned out. But then AGAIN, that team was a tirefire and United isn't. My theory is that a lot of Atlanta-loving transplants who never emotionally abandoned their beloved Blackhawks (or whoever) have no qualms adopting a MLS team from the city because they were never fans of their hometown MLS team in the first place.

Cincinnati is a hotbed for soccer - the fans supporting the team now grew up playing soccer and some even on HS and college teams including my nephews who played HS soccer. If they get a MLS team here and the other pro teams in this town continue to deteriorate it would not surprise me to see Cincinnati become a predominately soccer town in the future. Of course some hardcore fans will remains as the tailgaters will continue to love the bungs but as rule the fans in this town are growing weary of the other teams as mentioned.

Is there a dysfunctional team that can't win for losing?

If so, perhaps Cincinnati would do well with a soccer team.

Every sport needs that one really bad organization for players not ready to retire even though they should.

Mikey and Castellini had best take notice of this soccer development. With the pi$$ poor performance of these two sorry excuses of sports franchises fans want another direction - like a breath of fresh air. What they will do to counter this if the Mls deal happens is anybody's guess. We all know mikey's too dumb to do much.
