One word sums up Dicky's concert- it was awesome! Mesmerizing! The concert was held at the Calvin Simmons theater which seats about 1,900 people. It was full house. It was a benefit concert so many "big shots" from the Chinese community in the Oakland/San Francisco area were there. He was entertaining, humurous and sang a lot of wonderful songs from his shows and CDs (such as Jan Jan Ga Ga, Aiya Aiya Chan Chan Ne, Theme songs from Duke of Mt. Deer, Fong Sai Yuk, Journey to the West, etc.)He was joking along the way. Teresa appreared briefly, and sang about 3 songs.

It was a dream that came true for me. I was very, very lucky because I happened to be staying in Marriott, the same hotel as Dicky. I was on the 16th floor and he's on the 19th. I bumped into him at the lobby, and we spoke for a while. I gave him a special souvenior from New York, and he was thrilled that I came from the east coast of US to see him. He was very nice and friendly to me. We took a few photos together. Further, I knew a couple of production crew members who handled his concert. As a result, I was allowed into the tightly-secured concert hall to see Dicky's rehersal at 2pm on Oct. 6. No one can come in unless you are with the production or sponsoring companies. Dicky saw me and waved to me. I was so happy that he recognized me. I was sitting in the 10th row right in front of him (the main floor), so I was very close to the stage. At night during the concert, there were times when some people from the audience (kids and adults from the main floor only) would just walked up to the stage and give him some gifts - he was so wonderful with everyone. When he was sitting down on his comfortable grey giant chair, I screwed up my courage and walked up to the stage. When he saw me, he stood up and came forward towards me and we exchanged some words privately. Then he joked loudly and said both of us are off to a date after the concert! The audience laugh! He put his arms around my shoulders and we took a couple of nice pictures together.

It will the day I would never ever forget. I never knew I could get so close to talk to Dicky - not just once, but several times on that day. He even knows my name and recognizes me. I am speechless and it seems like a dream (story from a novel). But I know it's real because Dicky signed a number of things for me and we have a lots of pictures taken together. I told him I will look him up next time I am in Hong Kong - He said "Great!"
