You have really made me aware that I need to restructure the way I am looking at this, and yes, it is an experience that will enable me to have the compassion to help someone in the future. One of the NICU doctors told me last week that we needed to make our decision quickly, and to not beat ourselves up over it. He told me that the guilt would eat me alive and that I wouldn't do anybody any favors if I dwelled on it and beat myself up, and now I understand what he meant. He was right, and you Jess, are making me realize that I need to pick myself up and dust myself off and keep on walking.
