I am in a somewhat similar situation...dh and I are in the process of adopting my cousin's baby. She is not a drug addict or unfit parent, she just chose not to keep this child for many reasons and knew that dh and I really wanted a child. Dh was VERY reluctant at first because of the closeness of the situation and the openess of the adoption. We are six weeks into a lifelong journey and it has definitely had some awkward moments when all of the family is together for an event but over all, it is the best thing that has EVER happened for us! We are going to have to take each situation as it comes and figure out the rules as we go along but this baby has been such a blessing!!
I wish I knew what it was that made dh change his mind.He just took his time and thought about it decided he wanted a child and it didn't really matter where that baby came from. Each family and situation is different but I thought I would share with you our situation. Good luck with whatever happens!!!!! I am a true believer in everything happening for a reason!!!
