1950s rubber head clown doll

I am looking for a clown doll I had in my childhood, sometime in the mid- to late-1950s. I have no idea who made the doll, but it was about 18"-24" tall, a largeer doll. He had a happy face and a bald head with orange curly hair on the sides. His head was firm rubber -- I don't rememebr his hands. I think his legs were striped. None of my ebay searches have turned anything up -- he almost (almost!) looked like a Bozo doll. I'd love to find this toy again to buy a piece of my childhood.
