HELP! Hobo Clown Music Box Questions

by (no login)

Hello! I'm wondering if someone can help me find out information on a clown I aquired. It is a hobo clown reading a book with his hand up and is a wind up music box. Bisque or ceramic type??? Pads on the bottom to prevent scratching..but the unique thing is on the bottom there is some sort of oriental or oriental style marking.

I would appreciate any and all information that you can share with me. I have looked through about every search engine imaginable and have yet to find out anything even close.

If you need pics to get a better look I can share them.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Emmett Kelly Plates and ornaments

by (no login)

When my daughter was young I started her a collection of Emmett Kelly plates and ornaments. Over the years her children have broke most of the ornaments but she still has three. She had 10 Limited Edition plates and now has 8.
The dates would be from the 80's to 1991.

My wish was that they would be cared for and kept but that has not happened. She would like to sell them. I have know idea what they would be worth. Can you help me. I live in Cheney Kansas ( a small town west of Wichita)

Thank You
Beverly

I have a Ronald A. Lee Clown figure that I am interested in selling. I do not know the name. It is 24K Gold Plated and Hand Painted. It is a clown holding a brown poodle. It has the original tag stating that it is a creative concept by Ronald A. Lee. I know it is from the early 1980's. Any information would be appreciated.

HELP ! Looking For Emmett Kelly "Under The Weather"

by (no login)

I am looking for a Emmiit Kelly Coca-Cola figurine called "Under The Weather". It is Emmitt Kelly sitting under an umbrella. What is unique about it is, it sits on the edge of a shelf with Emmitt's legs hanging over the edge. This was my wife's favorite Emmitt Kelly and it was accidently broken (not by me). Any help would be welcome.

Anybody still have these?

by (no login)

There seem to be many versions of the clown reading the Wall Street Journal: if any of you still have yours, could you share pictures of them with me? So far I have found versions painted by Crionas, Herschel Fullen, Patti Rock, and Leighton Jones, although I expect that there are more out there. Identifying these seems to be becoming an obsession with me... any help would be greatly appreciated.

We aquired this painting in the early 1980's. It is 20" wide & 24" high and the Wall Street Journal is dated September 12, 1969. Where could I go to find an approximate value? Do you have any input that would help us. Thanks Bob.

I have an identical one in perfect condition and have advertised it at $135. I based this on one found on-line from a dealer who wanted $126 and their doll had NO feet, no hat and only part of it's clothing.

George Crionas Drawings

by (no login)

Joann,
We have one limited edition lithograph by a George Crionas titled "Oops" numbered 42/175. We bought it over 35 years ago. It's a hobo clown, quite possibly Emmette Kelly playing golf -- his "oops" is that he missed a putt because his pants fell down.

We bought this at an art auction at Keesler Air force Base. The auctioneer told us that George Crionas once worked with Walt Disney and parted company before Disney became famous.

I too would like more information on Mr. Crionas. I've searched everywhere -- one person has a number, signed litho, framed with no glass, some imperfections - valued at $400 -- don't know who placed the value on it.

Good luck. Keep on searching. I, too, would like to find a buyer.

Crionas offset litho-signed-limited edition

by (no login)

Hi, I just got on the internet to try to learn a bit about 3 lithographs I purchased several years ago.
Each is of clowns in the kitchen & numbered in the 400's of 500 & signed in pencil by George Crionas beneath the actual art & his printed name. One is of one clown, another of two, and then three. Clowns or hobos, I'm not sure!

I would love to learn more about this artist.

Thanks for sending me anything you learn during your search & I'll do the same if I come upon anything of interest.

Crionas

by (no login)

I too have a Crionas. Mine is an original oil. My father bought it off of a nightclub owner during the mid 1960's. Supposedly the owner was good friends with Crionas.

I did a search on him a few years ago. Somehow I managed to locate his studio on-line. When I emailed the studio about the painting his wife wrote me back. She informed me that he was very ill, alzheimers -I think.

For some reason I cannot locate his on-line studio. I lost the link and I am unable to locate in web searches.

That's all I know.

Crionas Emmett Kelly Original Oil

by (no login)

I, too, have a Crionas ... it actually is multi-medium ... but an original signed by the Artist himself and purchased by my mother directly from the Artist circa 1958 ( I don't have the painting w/ me, but the year is on it ).

I found out a couple years ago the same info "Eva" found out ... Artist's wife responded he was in his '70s ( I think I remember ) and he was very ill.

I have found no market so far for his originals; some limited market for signed and numbered Lithos -- circa 200 - 500, as I recall from a couple years ago.

Would love to find out more about a resale market, if anyone has any luck.

Subject line in email will need to say something like "Crionas Emmett Kelly Art", or it may quickly go the way of 90% of the SPAM I receive -- deleted w/o ever opening to read.

THANKS! And good luck to everyone!

Hello, I just read your message and I too have a picture/painting of an Emmitt Kelly type clown reading the racing form from George Crionas. I hear is is very sick right now and he is about 78 years old. Did you ever get any feed back on your message. I would love to hear from you.

Thank you,
Seth

Emmett Kelly Jr Wet paint (re: number on tie)

by Terri (no login)

I inherited a retired piece. It's the Emmett Kelly Jr Wet Paint by Flambro original miniature released 1982 and retired 1983. It has on the tie EKG in pencil? and next to that the number 25 also in pencil. Does this signify that this is the twenty-fifth piece out of the 15,000 that were made? I do not have the papers or original box. Can anyone tell me what this might be valued at? Thanks.

I, too, have the same Emmett Kelly Jr. "Wet Paint" with the number 25 as you have. Mine is porcelain. I am also trying to find out about it. If you have received information about this piece, would you please e-mail me and let me know. I have been trying for a long time to get any information I can.
Thank You,

I have a clown picture. It is about 8x10. It has a artist signature but I cannot read it. It has a nose that lights up and it plays music. Does anybody know anything about this or the value?
