Help On Clown I.D.

by (no login)

I have a clown that I have been trying to find out more about. All hand-painted in bright blue, orange, and brown.
Sculpture in fine detail, this ceramic clown stands 6 inches tall.
On the bottom is signed" Cisneros "and under that is "Mexico". Found him and a few other clowns in the back of my grandmother's closet. She and my parents were military and traveled a great deal, but all are now deceased.
It would be much appreciated,if anyone has any info on "Cisneros", to forward it on to me. I have pictures.

thanks

Self Portrait of Emmet Kelly For Sale

by (no login)

I grew up in Sarasota Florida, next to Emmett Kelly.

He drew his self portrait in charcoal, poster size and gave it to me.

I would love to find a good home for this special portrait.

Thanks,

Lois Smith

p.s. I saw on Ebay one of his charcoal portraits appraised for $9,000 and mine looks just like that, but it's even better because it is of himself.

Emmett Kelly Sr.

by (no login)

I also have a charcoal self portrait of Emmett Kelly Sr.. He gave it to my mother when he was performing for the Al Sirat Grotto circus in Cleveland Ohio back in the mid to late 50s. Its over 50 years old and the paper is torn in places and it has been folded up for years, but the picture and colors are still vibrant after all this time. The portrait says "so long" and he signed it at the bottom "KELLY". I dont know what the value of this is and is it worth having restored. Does any one know? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Clown collection

by (no login)

With the passing of my mother, I find myself with approximately 85 Ron Lee clowns. Most are from the 80's. I know almost nothing about these clowns. Do they have value? I have listed them on an Excel spread sheet that I can attach to an e-mail. If anyone is interested in buying all or any of them let me know and I will e-mail the list. Please only if your interested. They were carefully wrapped when I got them, So I would guess they are in perfect condition and I believe they all have certificate's.

Ron Lee

by (no login)

I have 7 Ron Lee Sculptures that I am looking to sell. Has anyone found a way to get prices for these, short of purchasing a catalog from Ron Lee. I found his wife to be very rude and not so helpful. Thanks

Ron Lee prices

by (no login)

i am an avid collector and would happily help ou in any way i can. the value of any particular piece can really only be established by collectors, and there are quite a few out there, by what they are willing to pay. Jill Lee's price guide provides a "ballpark" figure but actual value can only be what one of us is willing to pay. if you would like i would be happy to tell you, if you would provide a list of which ones you have, what the "price guide" thinks they are worth, but again understand that the price guide is made up by Ron Lee and is only their opinion. start any piece anywhere and generally we (collectors) will tell you what the value really is. based on how rare, what condition, and exactly which piece it is.

hope this helps, probably not but at least i tried.

Value of Ron Lee Clowns

by (no login)

I have about 10 of Ron Lee's pieces. Can you tell me how I can go about establishing a value for these. Do I need to describe them to you or is there a full catalogue that I can find that will help me with this.

I was going to pack them away, but do not want to do that if they are of any significant value.

A friend has a collection that he is interested in selling. What types of info do you need? There are a # of large ones like a clown in a bathtub but we're not sure of official names.

Any advice?

Ron Lee Clown "hobo" reading sales manual ,marble base

by (no login)

Good morning/evening,
I have been browsing through the information on Ron Lee's clowns.
I am not a collector as such, although purchased the above in Hawaii approx.25 years ago, cannot remember how much I payed for it,saw your comments and would be interested in knowing the approximate value of the clown. Not that interested in selling it,although if the price is attractive could be interested.
At the same time 25 years ago I purchased a Normal Rockwell figurine titled "triple portrait", I have noticed several reproductions or copies for sale on e bay @ $16.95,although they are much smaller and have different bases,in other words the one I have is an original.
Hope you can enlighten me on the "approx" values,as you mentioned"what are people/collectors willing to pay"

Looking forward to your reply.

Yours Faithfully.

Help

by (no login)

I am trying to help my aunt sell her clown collection. She is on disability, has to move to a small apartment, has no place to put them and needs the money desperately. I don't think she has anything majorly expensive but she has but several thousand dollars into the collection over the years and it includes everything from pictures and small figurines to a 2 foot tall paper mache clown. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

emmett kelly jr autograph

by the drunk mailman (no login)

hi...last weekend i bought a post card at an antique show for a dollar...it was in a box with hundreds of other old post cards from all over the world...there is a picture of emmett kelly jr on the front and his name signed in red ink on the back..."the clown prince of pantomine clowns and poses for pictures at the canadian kodak exhibit at the canadian national exhibition, toronto" is printed on the back of the card...i looked at kelly autographs on the net and this looks like it could be the real thing...who would forge a clown's autograph...does anyone know how something like this could be authenticated...and how much it might be worth...tdm

I just inherited a Clown Doll Collection---HELP!?

by (no login)

I have inherited a large collection (4 HUGE boxes plus single-individual dolls in each of 7 smaller boxes)of Clown Dolls that run from the ridiculous to some that appear VERY nice and expensive.

Is there a definitive website that has info on various clown doll-makers where I can research these pretties and see what I should sell them for pricewise?

I'm sure that some of the makers' names on these clowns are top of the line but others I'm equeslly as sure are clowns that were added because they were cute or funny and not of any real value--except to add to the number of dolls in the collection.

Some of the names are:
Betty June Carter
Seymour Mann
Geppeddo
Emmitt Kelly Jr (2 figurines)
Lizzie High

Probably the ones I find the least appealling (ugly)will be the ones worth most!--seems to happen often.

Any advice from a "clownite" would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My best guess

by Wally (no login)

I'd say value is $50-100 each.
There are lots of variables: Size? Framed? Condition? Certificate of authenticity? Stanton Arts ? Flambro? Etc...
I don't collect lithos.
