Gosalyn's future

by (no login)

Well, we've all read the fanfics of Gos and Honk as teenagers and adults. And I was wondering how you guys see them.

This is going to sound a little dumb, or even silly, but I picture Gosalyn joining the Army. Or rather, she and Honker entering East Point in the state of New Duck. Gosalyn's got the physical ability and stamina to go through every single confidence course the military can throw at her. And what Herbert Muddlefoot, Jr. lacks in physical ability he more than makes up for in brainpower. And right after graduating from East Point, they move back to St. Canard. Outside St. Canard is a thick forest, as seen in Dances with Bigfoot. A perfect place to have a military training camp. I figure the two of them would be promoted through the ranks pretty fast, so I picture Gosalyn as a one-star general while still being pretty young. (And I bet when she retires, she'll have four more stars on her shoulder) Honker will probably be a colonel, and the Army's foremost military strategist. (Though brains are valued in the military, overall brawn is still the key factor in promotions). We see all the fun Gos has bossing Honker around, so imagine how much fun she'd have ordering a whole battalion to do her bidding.

I thought this idea was so funny, I considered drawing it. And being the environmentalist I am, I thought I might save paper by using only half the paper, using the other side to draw Gosalyn's Nega-double. Her occupation? President of a Peace organization. I'll title it "The Warmaker and the Peacemaker."

Drake would object letting his little girl join the Army, but you know Gosalyn. When she gets an idea, pity the unfortunate soul who tries to keep her down. Honker's parents will also probably wonder why their genius son is rejecting Narvard and Hale.

Since the DT/DW world is different from ours, I think it's safe to assume that their world, while still not perfect, is a little more peaceful than ours. Perhaps General Mallard and Colonel Muddlefoot wouldn't devote their entire lives to the military life. Maybe they will become heroes. Honker said he didn't like being a sidekick in "The Quiverwing Quack." He, though meek, is somewhat capable of asserting his interests but needs a good boost to actually stand up to someone like Gosalyn. Perhaps a few years as a cadet will give him the boost in self-esteem he needs. Anyway, I wouldn't want to jeopardize my favorite nine year old duck's happiness, so if I ever write Gos and Honk in the superhero business, I'd make them partners, not hero and sidekick.

That's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree. :)
