Greetings from the Adventure Group!
Perhaps our regular visitors have noticed a few changes in the site over the last few weeks. We put it off for a long time, but it was time for an overhaul. Scott and I recently went through every page on our site, and made them all 800X600 monitor resolution-compliant. For those of you who are still behind the times and using the lower screen settings, you will notice that our site now fits your screen horizontally. For those of us using the 1024X768 setting, you won't notice much change in that regard. In general however, this cosmetic change has made our site much more clear in its presentation.
Another big change we made was the description under each picture. The details of our pictures will no longer be written below. But rather, when you move your mouse over the thumbnail, the description will pop up next to the pointer. This makes for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance, and also allows us to write more information for each picture.
We also dramatically improved the navigation within our site. On each page beyond the main page, there are links to each and every other page on our site. The state pages all have drop down menus with all the states we have completed. At the bottom of each page, you will also find a link bar with the main pages hyperlinked. Another new feature we have recently included is the external links on each state's page. We are not the only ones who have a website devoted to highpointing. Many other sites exist with similar themes. These are sites we have used extensively for research and ideas for trips. We have included most of the other sites we are aware of in these sections. Our goal is to have a website where people will come to do their own research, or plan their own trips. IF YOU HAVE A HIGHPOINTING-WEBSITE, OR KNOW OF ONE THAT WOULD FIT SOMEWHERE, TELL US AND WE WILL GLADLY LINK IT!
We have been accepted in the highpointing webring as well. This is another good place to find similar websites. You can find the webring link on the main index page.
The Adventure Group recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. In our first year, we recorded over 2100 "hits" to our site. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have shared in our experience. Scott and I would especially like to thank our families for their support and encouragement. There are also a number of "regulars" who we routinely see on the site thanks to our hit tracker. We greatly thank those repeat visitors for their interest. At present, we are devising some ways to make the site more interactive and less static in its theme. It is our hope that more people will re-visit the site.
