Surf City sailors kicked butt in the 2001 Lightning State Championships at Ocean City Yacht Club Aug 25.
Steve Warren won the last race to slip by Rich Warren and win the title. Jack Elfman, sailing the Temme/Robinson boat, finished fifth in the 18-boat fleet.
Crewing with Steve were George Schmidt and Tim Robinson.
Steve ended up with finishes of 4-2-4-1. Rich had 1-5-2-6. The races were sailed in northeast winds ranging from 20-plus in the first race to 15-plus in the fourth.
The NOR for the Annual Manahawkin Bay Cup for Lightnings and the 53rd Annual Regatta are posted under "Regatta Information" on the menu bar to the left.
Metedeconk sailors kicked LBI's butts at the districts, but SCYC had some good moments.

I think Tim Robinson finished 8th and Darryl also sailed. Glenn Reitenger finished 7th. Close to 30 boats competed.
In between thunder, lightning and torrential rains, three races were sailed Aug 11-12 for the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club's Down Bay regatta.

Darryl also competed but I don't know his finishes
The only other Surf City sailor competing was Lee Griffith who finised fourth in the Snipe class.
I am new to the club and am very interested in sailing on Mariners. If you ever need crew for a race or any other time, I'd love to go out. Looking for a Mariner of my own as well!
