A songfic is...by (no login)First, I understand, Slack, and User knows I wouldn't want to give you all more work! What I know a songfic to be is: a (short) fanfic written and having the song going on "in the background," although some people have mixed the song into the story. Here's an example, from mine: So many words for the broken heart It's hard to see in a crimson love So hard to breathe, Walk with me, and maybe -- "Why was I so stupid?" he asked himself, as he had for seemingly every forsaken cycle he had been there. The question stood for more than one slip-up he had made. Trusting the viruses had gotten him shot into the Web; but his second mistake hit harder. He hadn't told the one woman he cared about his true feelings. Nights of light so soon become Wild and free, I can feel the sun How much he longed to be back in Mainframe, under the warm sun -- never seen in the Web -- playing with Enzo, AndrAIa, and Frisket, and sitting with Dot on a bench in Floating Point Park. The image in his mind seemed so real, but he knew it was only that -- in his head. And yet, he could see Dot's smile so clearly; warm and radiant, bathing him in its light. . . . Your every wish will be done They tell me . . . Something like that. -Tris McGraw from IP address 205.188.201.192 Return to Index |
