I agree with Meghan and Tora, the best should be recognized as the best. And (like probably in MG's case) if the votes are for a site that has already won before that only proves how much that site deserves its award this year. Hey, if they won it they truly deserved it. If they didn't, some other kid was judged better and fair enough.

If the URAs are supposed to 'give people a turn' that's as special as getting one of those plastic trophies at Little League games.

If you win an award because the site or person who actually excelled the most was not eligible ... How meaningful is that award? Not very. I'd feel crum-diddily-ummy if I won an Oscar only because Jodie Foster and Meryl Streep or Carrot Top had already won one.

What are people striving for? To be the best in their category except for previous winners? And it takes away from those very winners to have future winners awarded the same award for less achievement.

Eventually the Best Site of 2003 or 2004 or 2004 1/2 is just going to be whatever 'AndrAIa Matrix' site is left over, and what does that say about the specialness of Julia's or MG's awards if less worthy people can scoop one up.

We're talking The First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence here.

It may be a popularity contest and the AndrAIa Matrixes may vote in blocks for their little AndrAIa Matrix pals, but by nominating the best we give those sites a fair shot at winning.

Obviously with fics you can't nominate the same fic again. Like the Oscars. You can't nominate Russell Crowe for Gladiator again this year, but you might nominate him for A Beautiful Mind, etc.

Let's have a vote on it or poll or something. It's a big issue. Like UOG's name. .

      xoxo Hanako
