Response to BNM in hell/hell without mana shield

Have anyone succede in killin diablo on hell/hell without mana shield, while playin a BNM?

Yes.

I god damn tried... reached lazarus after long hours of play and then got annoyed by constant tp-death-getup-tp-death-getup procedures. Lost an array of prime cursed stuff and even backups and backups of backups... (U know u use -10 all, then they kill u. U put on -9 all to make it harder to retrive -10 and they kill u again, so u...)

Sorry to hear that. It's never pleasant to lose a treasure trove of good gear.

Well if u made it tell me some good strategies...

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what you were up against. What was the monster mix?

P.S. Is it ok to use a item of titans when playin BNM so that u can use cranium basher?

The bigger question is whether Cranium Basher is allowed at all. By the official rules, no unique items are allowed whatsoever. But in the spirit of the variant, C-Basher is excellent. Yet there is still an important detail.

The main worry about Cranium Basher is its 5% Resist All. 5% isn't much but it does one important thing: Prevents you from being stunned by spells. (Spells never stun if you have any resistance to that type of magic.) This only matters if you can survive more than one enemy spell though. If you never use Mana Shield, in higher difficulties you're likely to die from one hit so even with that 5% resistance you'll still die.

But what if MS *is* used? In this scenario, you are quite likely to survive enemy magical attacks and you will be stunned by them. Since C-Basher will prevent the spells from stunning you, simply take it off on levels with magical attackers.

Can you use a +Str item to equip it? Sure, so long as it isn't taking the place of a cursed item. (i.e. Equip Str item so you can wield C-Basher, then remove str item.) Best case scenario is for C-Basher to keep itself equipped. It does have a +Str attribute (20), which will put you are 65 strength all by itself. Because you need a lot of strength to keep it equipped I'd recommend a "Fool" outfit for use with C-Basher. (A total of -11 strength will cause C-Basher to go red, so Trouble and Frailty items are not ideal for this outfit.) Nice Hyena and Fool items would compliment Cranium Basher well.

Oh... one more detail. Since Cranium Basher does have damage modifiers, you can't use it to attack monsters. So if you want to smash H/H advos you'll need to do it with fists, a cursed item, or Golem.

That's my opinion. For more opinions on BNMs and Cranium Basher you can try:
