Hi,
Have been reading up on the lithgow panther as i was born in lithgow and all my family come from there but unfortunately never saw any panther,I remember seeing the African Lion Safari park at Warragamba one year when i was a child.I recently heard a rumour that one or more big cats might have escaped the park and fled into the mountains and valleys where they could have bred and lived happily feeding on our wildlife and farm animals.
I heard the park close4d down years ago and that he was associated with circuses which i also heard had escapees as well.If its true id imagine the owner having read up on him would have kept it secret to avoide being closed down.extremely interesting
well they had to come from somewhere u would think and id love to go look for them or it if i could .anything you have on this would be great.

Hi

Just a short note for now.

If youd like, you could come out anytime.

As for escaped and crashed circues.

At $75,000-$100,000 and more each time for these big cats, most if not all were captured the same day. Some were shot and some disappered.

For instance a Lion was eventually caught by using a tranquiliser dart at St Marys in Sydney west in the mid 90's. At the time the circus was near the school grounds.

The big cat sightings though have been around long before any of these known crashes or escapes, although circuses were known to lose animals 100 years ago. But back then privately owned big cat pets were common.

Most of the crashed circues were only one animal as well, not breeding pairs.

Rex and others, now including myself are searching for An unknown species or a Marsupial Lion (Thylacoleo carnifex)type animal.
