Hi there,
Great pics of the fireballs. Nice work!
I lived in the Upper Hunter Valley (Singleton) a few years back and witnessed many of these "things", even one lot with some choppers in hot pursuit. Anyways, i'm now in Northland, NZ and haven't seen anything like these since. But i'm still looking...
Anyone else in NZ seen these? I have come across only 1 person who "admits" to seeing something weird but it wasn't one of the beloved fireballs.
Eyes to th' skies!
Jimz :)

I live in Cessnock and recently witnessed the same phenomenon. I was driving down Sandy Creek road near Ellalong approximatley 1 month ago. The time was around 8:10pm. As I was driving, I saw what I believed to be a meterite coming down. It was definatley going towards the ground. It was a few hundred feet above. I assumed it to be a shooting star, but I could see detail that I had never seen on shooting stars before. It was a red with an orange outline. I thought it was simply a large meteorite falling somewhere locally.
That was the end.
Shortly afterwoods, I arrived home, (around 8:30pm). I was unloading my car, when I heard a helicopter overhead. I looked up and noticed that it was flying a low (below 700feet), the chopper was using a searchlight. I thought a prisoner had escaped or somebody was lost in the bush. The chopper put the light on my house and slowly 'swept' along as if it were searching for something.
The chopper approached from the S-SE, then turned sharply and went SW (towards the watagan state forest mountain range), as it approached the top of the mountains, I saw a satelite "dot" style object move away towards to West. The chopper ignored this and kept heading south.
The moving "dot" was orange/red in colour. I have seen many satelites orbiting the earth, and this looked like an ordinary satelite. The starnage thing was that I didnt notice it moving until the chopper approached the same area of airspace.
There were no news headlines or reports of any meteorite strikes.
Weird...

There have been many sightings of helicopters these past few months as well as orange objects flying around Sydney.
One lady said she saw what she believed was a helicopter on fire then two more helicopters tunrned up and then they all went straight up and then appeared to be like jellyfish.
There has also been some low flying helicopters buzzing people from The Blue Mountains near Penrith as far as the Central coast, ive been told.

Rex and Heather wil be going to N.Z next year, maybe you can catch up with Rex. You live anywhere near Massey-Auckland?
I have photographs from 1996 (before I bought a video camera this year) right up till this year of other types of yellow and orange coloured streaks.
Im going to-when I have time, put up other images of the 5 months ive been taping. Since this rain two weks ago, they appear to have finished whatever they were doing. Maybe the seeding by some of these jets/craft worked.

Hiya,
I'm currently living in the Bay of Islands, Paihia to be specific. Is there some sort of "do" going on as for the NZ visit, as I would be most interested in meeting up. Auckland is but a 3 hour drive from here, permitting i don't get lost in Auckland that is!
Interesting to hear about the fireballs and choppers. I saw around 50 or so of these all up, the most was 14 in one go. But i only ever once saw them being "pursued" by helicopters. There was 2 choppers on that occasion, one with the spotlight and nav lights, the other was totally blacked out. At first, i could just hear it, then once i got visual on the lit up chopper, you could see the outline of the second. Both were very low, very fast.
And cheers, nice to be met :)

I just came off the phone to Rex for the past hour or more.
Nice to meet you too.
Rex is going to the Bay of Islands. When I know from Rex exactly, I will inform you so you can meet up with Rex and Heather if youd like.
I have been talking to a friend in the aviation industry ( I showed him the footage and will be making small mpegs shortly for online viewing-a dvd in tyhe future of the 4 hours I have) and he claims that what I have photographed and videotaped are sub-orbital craft and that the F-18's Hornets and F111's are not what I have on film.
He said that based on a 9 minute section of film showing what I thought may have bene F-18 Hornets fitted with soemthing to make them fly at these sppeds, he said a Hornet cannot use its after burners for prolonged periods-as seen in the footage. Less than 3 minues at best but not 9 minutes and longer of after burner.
The sub orbital craft I have found 6 other days which I didnt realise I had of the same craft.
take care

Hiya,
Let me know if they need a place to stay. There is a little house i could arrange for their use if needed.
Don't suppose you've heard from Martin Doutre lately? Bit of goings on in the local newspaper regarding his research.
Cheers, James.
