This tale of high-strangeness was related to me over a cuppa in the company lunch room by my now elderly boss. This, as I enjoyed my stay in the land down-under on a working-holiday visa - as a 19 year-old world traveller and part-time prospector from Ontario, Canada.
Now with no further introduction - allow me to re-tell a story - a story which I believe deserves further review and investigation.
One fine morning on the way to work - commuters along the local highway in or around Fairfield East N.S.W. were agog at the sight of a vehicle perched atop a road-side telephone pole. The vehicle appeared to be largely undamaged and furthermore there were no obvious indications of there having been an accident - no skids marks etc. - just the spectacle of an automobile perched high atop a utility pole - presumably entangled in the wires. Now to add a dash of horror to this tale - when the emergency services people arrived - they were mortified to find within the vehicle - four occupants - all very much dead!
No plausible explanation was offerred during the recounting of this tale. Upon repeated questioning - I was assurred of the veracity of this tale and told that it really had happened - complete with the 4 deceased occupants! Exactly when did it happen? That detail escapes me - but I believe (with a reasonable degree of confidence)that it occurred in the mid 60's to early 70's. Surely there exist police reports or newpaper articles describing this pinnacle of high-strangeness. It brings to mind reports of cattle (often mutilated) being found high up in a tree - presumably dropped into their unenviable positions! Just to repeat - this definitely happened in or around Fairfield East N.S.W. in the mid to late 60's possibly early 70's. I welcome your thoughts and insight into this matter.

It's a real Ripley's Beleive it or Not! kind of incident. I'm confident this really happened. The "boss" who conveyed this to me was not prone to fantasia or fabrication. As to why Yennora - I lived in Yennora for approx. one year 80/81. I was grasping for a sign-in name - I think I found it - I'm sure it's a one-of-a-kind. Truth be told - I travelled to Australia on two seperate occasions - 80/81 and 70/71 when I attended third form at Hunters Hill Primary! Hunters Hill being adjacent to Lane Cove - site of the Chandler-Bogle double-murder mystery of 1962. This has never been particularly well resolved albeit some people suggest it as such. I would encourage readers to cyber-sleuth that particular incident. TFN
