Peter Brock Dies

Its been a very bad week for Australian icons.

Peter Brock I have followed since I was young. I met him once at a race meet in Melbourne in 1989 while I was working down there.

It was at the race course at Sandown and Brockie had just blew his motor-the event was the 0.5; an event to do with random breath testing and the alcohol limit of .05 that came in.

A the back of pit lane you could stand at the back of each drivers shed. I had bought 3 Brock posters on a board and went there to see if I could have him sign them.

There were thousands of fans back there as he had just finished the race with a breakdown and I walked right through them to the front and asked this young guy could he ask Brock if he could sign the boards with photos of him and his car.

He took them and came back and said he was busy right now but he would ask him soon to sign them.

Turns out its Brocks son and he walks up to his dad points at me and walks over signing them as he is talkingto me.

Many people there were not happy as he was talking to me and not them as they had probably been waiting there all morning.
