Yesterday on 2GB they were talking about the so called panther. People phoned in from all over the place reporting their own sightings. At Broadwater Fire Trail 2 men while there saw a big black cat walking near the trail. Another listener claimed he shot a feral cat that was 22 kilos, which I highly doubt as the biggest feral ever caught and recorded officially is about that.

Then they had a lady phoned in fafter hearing of her sighting being talked on the radio, she is in the newspaper, she said this big black cat was in her backyard and she went inside to get the camera and when she came out the at had jumped over her dog and was in a tree and she took a photo which is on 2GB, although she said she knew it was a feral cat to start with-yet in this article she said it looks like a bob cat, yet yesterday live on the radio she said she knew it was a feral cat.. The photo shows a cat with pointy ears, so it is a feral cat.

People on the radio said it looked photo shopped, but she said it was sort of clinging to the tree and that's why the photo looks strange. One thing about 2Gb when they do a panther story they bring in many stories from
listeners.

Just a few minutes ago Ray Hadley was talking about a sighting at Glenori, where this lady rings her partner and while on the phone you hear a cats screech, you can hear it on the recorded message, but it sounds very small. It is such a nice day I am goign over to Glenorie and Kenthurst, where I have spent almost 8 years researching and see what I can find. After yesterdays dust cloud these animals might be on the move as the sun is out and not that hot. They have hand-sized tracks and have a camera set-up there.

The cat photo, if you look at the surrounding area/trees etc..you can estimate some size to this cat and it isn't that big.

THERE has definitely been a big, black cat-like predator living in the Hawkesbury and here's the proof. The Gazette has uncovered this picture, taken by Blaxlands Ridge property owner, Renai Willoughby, who, with husband Morgan, witnessed a large black cat flee up a gum tree within 200 metres of their back door.

She has only now decided to come forward following recent reports of renewed sightings in the area and the unconfirmed reports of large cat-like paw prints in Cedar Ridge Road, Kurrajong. "I'm not saying it's a panther, but it does look like a bob-cat, it's not a household pussy cat," Mrs Willoughby told The Gazette, yesterday.

"The ears and tail were the things that got me. Its tail was very thick and got bigger and chunkier as it came around the tree...the pointed ears, thick body and the yellow eyes...it had no collar, it wasn't a nice homey pet." Mrs Willoughby, whose property adjoins the Wollomi National Park, took the shot on the afternoon of May 21, 2005, less than a year after her dog Wicky was attacked in the bush and heard unusual noises in the night.

"Wicky had his throat slashed straight down his chest, his stomach ripped out and his intestines were chewed up," Mrs Willoughby said. "The vet said it didn't look like a dog fight, it was an attack by something intending to eat him." A couple of weeks before Wicky's attack, Mrs Willoughby said she "heard an awful noise coming from the bush."

"It wasn't the sound of a shrieking fox, more like a cross between a tiger and a cat, a horrible growling sound I'd never heard before and I haven't heard since. It was a proper big pussy cat growl," she said "I remember my neighbour saying 'I'm glad you heard it too, other people think I'm losing the plot'.

She took the above photo on a standard film camera, after hearing Wicky bark and take off. "I thought he was chasing a snake," she said. "Wicky stopped at the base of a gum tree and there it was, this big black cat half-way up. "I thought 'wow, look at the size of that thing, it's at least twice the size of Wicky', this is the cat everybody's talking about. It was bulky and struggling to keep itself up in the tree.

"I ran to the house to grab the camera, while Morgan came over. I got one shot in. Then it leapt over Wicky and bolted off into the bush." Renai has since only showed the photo to neighbours and friends, until now.
"Everyone considers you a looney if you say something," Mrs Willoughby said.

"Everyone that has seen the picture said 'wow' that's too big to be somebody's pet. I'm not scared, just a little worried for my son, who's a bit of a bushseeker. I tell him to be careful about what's out there cause you don't know how animals are going to react."
