From today's senseless
"RING-A-DING: LSU coach Nick Saban indicated that winning the SEC West qualifies as an occasion to buy championship rings, but UT senior guard Fred Weary said he wouldn't really care to own a ring for winning the SEC East.
"I don't want a ring for the East, I want a ring for winning the whole thing," Weary said."
First of all how the hell can a 5-3 team actually win their side of the league? Has a team with 3 conference losses EVER made it to the CG before? Second, they are making rings to commemorate a SEC West Championship? ROTFLMAO That's the single most pathetic thing I've ever heard. Saban is doing what he has to do to appease the masses of dumber than dirt Tiger SHEEP (more than likely the stupidest fan base in the SEC, total & complete blind SHEEP).
Rings for winning CUSA II? at 5-3
LSU is a talented team but not very well coached. If we give a Kentucky like effort we will get beat. If we play close to our abilities we will beat LSU. Fulmer outcoached Saban the 1st time (I said it after the game Sheep) & there's no reason to believe we won't be able to beat them again with everything on the line for us.
LSU would finish 5th in the East. This is however, a one game season, ZERO room for error.
The Sec west is an embarrassment. Auburn started the ring crap last year. Hell, Tuberville is running around proclaiming his team Co-sec west champs. What the hell is that? Since when did being runner up become an achievement. Soon it could get like Little League and everyone gets a damn ring for participation.
This mentality is exactly why the west gets their asses handed to them most years in the SEC championship game. They act like its some kind of accomplishment to beat, or in this case tie, five other mediocre teams. What a damn joke.
By the way, I've suggested to many of my Auburn friends that they should buy rings this year for Iron Bowl Runner-Up.

Would double over in laughter if you could hear all the spin coming from the sec west about being champions and co-champions. It's incredible. For the last damn time, LSU is the west representative, nothing more than an opportunity to play for the sec championship.
But I'm in a sheepish mood today, so I'm hereby declaring Bama SEC west co-second runner up. Sheep can start printing the special edition SI and the t-shirts. As a reward, the SEC west co-second runner up gets a trip to the Music $hitty Bowl.
...Actually the love for rings goes back to 1998 when Miss State beat UPig in Starkville thereby shattering the Pigs hopes for their "rematch" with Tenn in the 1998 SECCG.
Miss State went on to beat UManning thereby winning the SECWC and then (remember?) played Tenn in the SECCG.
Meanwhile, UPig coach Billy Bob Nutt got all mushy and actually bought his players SECWC rings because he "felt like Arkansas is really the SECW champs in 1998..."
When Jackie Sherrill was asked about this Sherrill replied,
I think you'll agree that winning (or being the representative) of that side is a big deal to virtually every team. Nutt, Tubberville & now Saban all ordering rings? what a joke.
Of course it's a big deal for a SECW team to win the SECW. You are talking about 6 coaches who get constant praise and accolades (not to mention raises) for constantly churning out Peach Bowl champions.
Not to mention you know your butt whipping is coming from the SECE team if you happen to stumble your way into the Georgia Dome for the SECCG.
Look at Nutt @ UPig: He's got UPig going to the Independence Bowl (I think) and with that supreme accomplishment you have rumors of him going to Notre Dame.
Sherrill is a god because he has a 7-4 career lead over UManning and --in the best yrs--gets MSU to the Peach Bowl.
Tubberville won the SECW last yr and will milk that accomplishment until the yr 2010.
Saban finally got his team full of underachieving 5 star blue chip recruits to salvage the tail end of a season and--after 3 conference losses--L-excuse is now in the SECCG. Hence Saban is now a hero for that "huge" accomplishment.
Cutcliffe brought Eli to Oxford but will be asking Eli for a ride to the Greyhound station after Eli drives off into the sunset after the 2003 season.
Fran got a 6-5 Bama team to a 3rd tier bowl and now he is a huge hero in Tuskaloosa.
So anyway, you can see how these half dozen perinnial underachivers are real big on rings.
