I know you're probably getting hounded about this, but what is the word on Woody coming to Knoxville next season?
The more I think about it (and also the more I hear about the rumors), the more I am interested in seeing what Ol' Woody can do with our defense. Especially our secondary.
Then again, would Fulmer let Woody coach his guys they way he did at Vandy? The secondarys while he was at vandy were, in my opinion, pretty damn good, which is a step up from what UT has had lately. I am wondering if Fulmer's overall defensive philosophy would water down Woody's coaching. The linebackers at Vandy always played damn well.
I would say the one gripe I have about Chavis is not upgrading from Larry Slade. Other than that, Chavis is as asset, in my opinion. Its just that he is too loyal to a few guys, and no positive steps were taken to correct the secondary. your thoughts?

Chavis is leaving and Woody's headed to TN to be defensive coordinator.
I've thought for over a month Chavis is going to leave for the NFL & I'm convinced Fulmer & Woody have already discussed the opening. Why else would Woody basically campaign for the job after the TN/Vandy game? Woody's been on the open market for almost three weeks now & I've not heard his name remotely mentioned for a position at another school.
I may have to end up eating my words, but I'd just about bet the house this scenario is going to work itself out.
Finally, I would think Fulmer's told Woody in no uncertain terms, "the defense is yours". How would an OL coach put restraints on a man that constructed a defense that won 4 super bowls? I can't see Woody agreeing to such a deal. We'll see.
Carter, I cannot say with 100% certainty this will go down

but it is WAY, WAY MORE than a hunch.
I've had too many people with good information tell me this move is gonna be made for me not to believe it. I have no doubt in my mind if Chavis leaves TN then Woody's gonna be the man running our D.
In fact, though it would never be publicly reported in such a fashion, if Chavis remains at TN it's because he or someone in his family got cold feet with the change. No way do I see Fulmer pushing him out the door.
Cartero, just like I said in the other post, one has to believe something is up when Woody basically campaign's for the job after his game with TN. His pat on the back toward the TN program along with the other info I've heard leads me STRONGLY to believe this change is coming--and soon.
