I hate Nebraska & the overrated Big 2!!! The Big 2 has long been a testing ground for effects of steriods on human tissue & innocent women basketball players!
More importantly, as Troy, a good caller on Dewey's show, stated: It would help us if Miami comes to Neyland Stadium as defending National Champions! I don't think even the UTJethros would sell their tickets for that game!
The 'Canes are still sore about being snubbed for fsu last year!! Look for speed to kill, especially the slow safeties for Nebraska! We will see the one- dimensional Heispin winner tonight. Colorado's QB cannot pass, but looked good against Nebraska.
I look for Miami to win due to their balance on offense and their speed advantage. They also seem to be driven by what they perceived to be a snub from the BCS geeks in 2000. I think it will be a much closer game however than you’ve predicted. Nebraska will be determined to erase the humiliating loss to Colorado from both their memory and ours. Their offensive approach is so unique to this era that they are difficult if not impossible to prepare for regardless of how long a period opponents have to accomplish it. They are an especially difficult match up (as we well know) for defenses designed to combat the pro-style passing game so prevalent in the South. Miami is also no bargain away from the friendly confines of the Orange Bowl.

My Hope: Nebraska 3 Miami 2

I think you said you resolved to enjoy football for the sporting, natural beauty of it. I did not even think about the BCS factor. Last night was a joy to watch as a long-time VOL fan, knowing we had won at FL field. A joy.
Back to reality tonight: this game will be somewhat painful to watch for ALL VOL fans! There will be an ache for sure! At least though, we now have the National-Championship ache, instead of North-Texas- State ache!!
I agree about Nebraska. Watching them is like watching a National Georgraphic special or the Discovery Channel about tumble bugs: How can they be that nasty, strong, & determined & not be synthetic?
I think I heard on Bruno's show today that white Levi's had sold out at Venice Beach!

31-20 Miami. I just don't think Neb has what it takes. I think they are all smoke and mirrors, and the only reason they got there is by name alone. Just like FSU last year.

I am having a tough time getting a feel for this game. I have a feeling Neb. my pull it out. I will say 27-24. Hopefully the BIG ORANGE is playing in the NC game next year.

2002 is THE year of no excuses.
I'm biased because of inlaws and business associates from Neb, but I can't rule out Nebraska. First, nobody has stopped them all year. And after seeing Colorado play Oregon, that blowout looks more and more like a fluke, where the momentum just swung completely away from Neb. Plus the close wins show Miami has the potential to be very average at times against good teams.
Anyway, much as I hate it for the board (More Mega-traitor BS), I take Neb 37-27.
This is the biggest bunch of hype I've ever heard. This team played only 2 good teams and one decent team all year.
They beat Oklahoma at home. Give them credit for that.
They beat a decent Texas Tech team by 10(41-31), at home.
They lost, sorry, got destroyed at Colorado, a team that lost at home to Fresno State, big @ Texas, big vs Oregon, and if not for Crissy in the Big12CG, would have lost again to Texas(Major Applewhite torched them)
This team does not have a great RB or FB like Big Red teams of the past. They do have a good defense, but again, they haven't come close to playing a team with the offensive balance that Miami has. The 2 best offenses they have faced have scored 31 and 62 on them.
What will Miami score 93?
All this being said, Nebraska will play their heart out and will not be intimidated. Miami has not played a smash-mouth team even close to Neb. Miami has too much speed and as much determination to win this game. Miami's O-Line may be one of the best of all-time.

That deer-in-the-headlights look against Colorado & its Northwestern back was a classic that will not be forgotten. Why does Nebraska always seem to share its titles or get them on cheap field-goal calls? Should Nebraska win it will be another synthetic title for them! Remember, hybrid corn is a big thing in Nebraskie & it would not surprise me to see a few genetic wins down the road for the 'roids!!!

My head tells me to pull for Nebraska to win so the BCS will blow up in the face of Kramer & his cronies, but my heart wants the Canes to beat the everlivin' hell out of the non-deserving Huskers.
