JC, don't let SCC mgt spin you...January 10 2002 at 12:03 PM | brockytop (Login brockytop) from IP address 216.82.35.145 |
| ad revenue for the TEAM was not the problem. The station was making a little bit of money believe it or not.
Where SCC has gotten into trouble is with the MAJOR slide of revenue from WIMZ--the cash cow of the SCC properties here in Knoxville.
Just a guess, but I'd say they've taken a hit ever since Phil Williams left & have taken a bigger hit since his return on 100.3 (though I find it un-listenable). Also, WIMZ was the station that took the biggest ad revenue hit from Sept 11th.
Finally, the GM that made this decision is not the GM that hired TB. After talking with someone last night "in the know" (not TB), this guy has wanted to can the TEAM since he arrived. He never understood sportstalk being on the FM in the no. 70 market in the country.
JC, my bad. I meant to put this under AIM's thread and started a new one by mistake.

that WTXM mad a little bit of a profit but no where near what it was making before 95.7 was switched to all sports and no where near what the top stations in this market are making.
